Mutant and Death Ray Guns Miniatures, Where?
« on: February 04, 2017, 02:09:07 PM »
The new Kickstarter by Ganesha games has got me into the possibility of buying this game. I have always been a fan of post apocalyptic Gamma World type settings. But I am having a hard time locating suitable miniatures to portray this time of setting. Can anyone suggest a line of miniatures that capture the whole mutant, mutant anthropomorphic animals, mutant plant, etc genre? Not only would I like to be able to have suitable miniatures for this game, but I think it could also help me locate appropriate miniatures for use in Mutant: Year Zero and Mutant: Year Zero Genlab Alpha. I have tried several google searches, but maybe I am not using the right combination of keywords to get results. Please help me!

I'm going to do mine a la Thundarr the Barbarian, so I'm planning on taking Fantasy minis and outfitting them w/ some scavenged hi-tech stuff. I think that method will give me the selection I'm looking for.  That plus mining some of the SF ranges should do the trick.

Two spring to mind,

The first, from a game called Wasteman:

http://www.tcminiatures.co.uk/wasteman-clrb

The other from Ramshackle:

http://shop.ramshacklegames.co.uk/

I don't have either of them, so I can't speak to the quality, but they always looked fun to me.

I'm really interested in that Kickstarter as well.  Seems a great deal for the $69 pledge!

These folks have some awesome mutant animals (Chickens, Rabbits and pigs) not sure if this is the kind of thing you are talking about.

Even more cartoon like miniatures can be found among Crunchy Frogs Critter Commandos

Reaper mousling miniatures might also be useful if you look you will find some that are SciFi oriented again if you don't mind a cartoon feel

Exactly the pledge I just took! Too good of a deal to pass up, and those Ganesha games are all pure fun. Really excited!

Wouldn't the Lead Adventure Miniatures be ideal? is this a rewrite of Mutants and Death Rays rules?

Speaking Thundarr and the fact that somebody linked to Interloper Miniatures...

Old Grenadier Gamma World line would be a possibility if you're starting from scratch. They're very retro, though. If you are looking for more modern manufacturers you probably have to look for several suppliers. At least that's what I did with my own Gamma World project.

There are some good suggestions above. I'd like to add "Dark Eye" fantasy range, which has good anthropomorphic vibe, availabe from Ral Partha Europe (perhaps Iron Wind metals?). Ral Partha has some plants too. Reaper Miniatures also has some of suitable stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions. I live in the United States. Most of these seem to be UK based. Are there many options within the U.S.?

At least these are worth a look in the USA:

Zombiesmith has all sorts of stuff
Reaper
Iron Wind Metals (Ral Partha, some other interesting ranges)
Brigade Games
Hydra Miniatures
Bronze Age Miniatures

And Noble Knight Games (US) seems to have a lot of European stuff.
Interloper is in Canada?
RAFM is also in Canada I guess

I ended up ordering some Wastelander models from Mad Robot Miniatures. I am awaiting their delivery. I went with Tribal legs and Lykan heads with Lykan close combat arms. Oh and a flame thrower.  lol
