Mantic have a good marketing ploy, the figures are (currently) only available in the respective sets, admittedly Brian is not a particularly notable sculpt (and does look a bit too bad ass for the character from the novel).

The other thing is the solo play event cards, which are specific to the set and designed for solo play.

@Malebolgia

They are actually pretty stable for a 10" piece.  Each of the freestanding poles is based on a thin 4cmx4cm plasticard base.  They are painted as pavement and flat to the table so they should blend in while still offering a stable footing.  The housing for the breakaway is a nut.  While it doesn't weigh much relative to the pole it helps.

Yes, but the event cards from the main set can easily be used for solo play (same goes for cards from Days Gone Bye for example).

@horridperson: cool, thanks for the info 8). I am now eyeing TT Combat's scenery for some scenery for the game and things like these poles will really add to them.

They make awesome stuff  :-*.  Price is pretty reasonable as MDF scenery goes but shipping it here would be a kick in the dick :) .  I'll post on the utility poles soon and you can make some for yourself.

I started building Hershel's barn.  I still have to side the uppers, build the roof and build the extension but sorting out the framing on the manser roof was probably the most fiddly bit and it's behind me now :) .  I should have that piece on the utility poles shortly.

I like the barn idea, looks like it's going well so far.

Go on, Brummie, jump in!  :D
It really is a great game. I'm very impressed with the game, the rules, the figures and the scenery items.  8)

I second  VF's endorsement!  It's a great package!  I can't wait for my next order to arrive :D .

I test fitted the roof panels then put together a foam core trusses so it could free float and allow access to the interior.  It still neesd to be dressed up but I am really happy with with where this is going.

The roofing is complete and the gable is in place.  I'm happy with solution on the step beneath the gable as the platform will remain while the gable itself and supports will come away with the roof when there is in barn action to be had.  I think it's about time to add the porches, interior and base it.  I'm not sure if I should build out a bit and increase the footprint to include everything or make it minimalist so I can have modules that make the sub-buildings independent.  Suggestions are requested and appreciated :) .

I also completed a tutorial on the utility poles I shared last week here:  http://horridvoidspace.blogspot.ca/2017/02/tutorial-lights-went-out-in-georgia.html

**Edit:  I accidently reposted the wrong photos and have removed them.  Two posts down are the images that were supposed to go up.

That is very good.

And echoing the above, the game and figures are very nice (the figures are distinctive but good).

 I just realized how badly I screwed up my last post.  I accidentally reposted the photos from the previous post rather than the ones with the finished roof and gable.  It was late and unimaginative names for photo files escape my attention :D .  Here are the shots I meant to post.
