@Treebeard

Yes,  I have just been debating over a larger footprint that incorporates all the elements or a minimal base that allows it to be deployed in modules.  I'm leaning toward the latter.  Either way I think it will be easier to detail the floor then join everything up.

horridperson, do you intend to make the whole Greene farm? That would be AWESOME!  ;)

I'm really not sure;  It's all dependent on momentum.  There are a few more pieces I intend to build but I don't think the Greene Homestead is in the cards.  Set pieces like a tractor and the well are in the planning phase already (research, and procurement in the case of the tractor).  I plan to build an out building as well.  I did run into a picture from the comic of the Greene farm so it might not be so bad to translate the whole thing to a board (more likely a 20x40 set up rather than a single map).  The comic house doesn't look as challenging as the one on the series but it is highly unlikely that if I built the farmhouse I would do the interior.

I just mounted the barn on a plasticard base and laid the wood floor in the interior.  I decided to go minimalist on the base (tight discreet plastic rather than larger MDF mount) to keep it modular.  There is a slight overhang on the front and back of the building so I can include some shrubs and set pieces along the barn's walls.  If I keep the details confined to the base I can keep the ground board very simple and use it as both the farm and the middle of the woods, or some other rural location and define them by adding or taking off mini terrain pieces.

Here is the pic from the comic I found as a reference from the comic continuity.

I think that for Z-Horror games the interior of the buildings is paramount for desperate "siege" situations (as seen in several zombie movies), that translate in tense and very strategic games!

Awesome barn mate. Really good build and very similar to the real deal.
For Hershel's farm, have you seen Pat's Laser Cuttings?

That farmhouse is nice!  It's dead on for the comic version of the house!  The crazy thing about the series house is that there are plans for it online.  The barn was guesswork compounded on guesswork where I had to start with the scene of Shane beating on the barn door and size everything in barn doors relative to the size of my TWD models.  Having a concise layout would help a lot.  I think it would be possible to build the more finished house from something simpler to work with like foamcore.  I'd bet a fair amount of money it would be an easier build than the barn.

Had some time to start detailing the barn's main door.

That farmhouse is hot!  If i planned on framing one I think I would rather order one of those; I think that building it and doing it mostly with foamcore is more within my budget though :P .  I didn't stop by to whine about my poor career choices though :) .  The barn is now into the painting phase.  I just hit the wood parts with a stain and a wood wash to age them a little and I'm waiting for the enamel stench to blow off and dry up so I can get to painting with acrylics tomorrow.  Here are the first shots.  I still have to add the doors.

That looks great, really well done. Very useful!

The interior still needs some work but the detailing on the outside is done-done as far as I can see.  Full tour later here is the completed main entry :) .
