Hi all,

I've had the luck to get a sample of some of French Model Workshop's kits for their future Kickstarter so I thought I could share my thoughts with you...
They're lasercut MDF and are modular to quite a high extent.

The parts are really well cut and get off the sprues with no effort and the assembly is really simple and tight, leaving no gaps anywhere (I've build mine using PVA).

The sample I was given enables to build a single building (one level) with a removable roof and removable side pannels (very handy if you want to combine multiple sets into one).

The modularity is a very strong point with this kit as most parts are removable easily and they provide very useful solutions for gaming opportunities (for those who like to have things happening inside buildings and that sort of thing.
Even the ladders have a simple element that allows you to place your model exactly how high it's climbed

The storage has also been taken into account with all options fitting inside the main building to reduce the place room required :

Haven't had time to paint it yet but will surely take care of that soon.

To be honest, you can tell a lot of thought and care has gone into the design of this set and I know it's been discussed back and forth with gaming clubs and players to make it right.
I know many of us here fancy nice solutions to gaming and modelling problems and here's one I wanted to give a little shout out to since it's a fresh new (french I know) company. They'll have a kickstarter soon so either check their FB page or their (in construction) website
You can find more pictures on my blog and for any info, I advise you to contact them since they've been very nice.

(for the record, I'm not part of the company or the project in any way, I just offered to give a shout out for the KS on my blog and got a sample to review ^^)

Liking the removable side panels idea. I suppose some folks think makes the building look unrealistic but I think it's a decent compromise between "cereal box" and "open on (at least) one side". Will have to see the cost of course but I think I might want to pledge on this one since I'm going to be needing some hab buildings anyhow.

So after using kids naps and late evenings, I managed to get my set painted !

I've opted for a fully weathered look because the setting I'm building is heavily influenced by the Cyberpunk genre so old concrete, stains and graffs were mandatory here.

It didn't take me long honestly but that's what I had in mind from the start so I'm more than pleased with it.
You can find more angles and pics on the Blog and I'm eager to see what other buildings are going to be released in the KS.

Very interesting building. Thank you a lot for the advice.
And very nice painting work. That is the point I don´t like of the all process...

Honestly, the painting part was quite quick and simple.
- Black prime
- Grey spray coat with a 45° angle
- Quick spray from an almost zenithal direction with pure white on the upper edges
- Decals, posters and freehands

Weathering :
- Blister foam to apply brown on some edges
- Brush water on a whole surface until it's completely wet and then add spots of Nuln oil and agrax earthshade here and there to let the pgments spread. Help them with a brush to control the effect
- More bblisterfoam weathering with a lighter brown
- Pigments + white spirit in recesses (try the colours you want)
