Building a Spanish Village for Sharp Practice
« on: January 12, 2017, 11:36:49 AM »
Morning all

Well, I've been a busy bunny since Christmas working towards rebuilding my Peninsular War collection for Sharp Practice.  The old stuff I had for the original version of the rules is looking a bit tired now, so I have decided to start again with forces from the Perrys and Brigade Games.  I did buy some 95th Rifles from Warlord but I've just chucked them out as the parcel from Brigade Games in the US arrived yesterday and they are simply streets ahead in terms of sculpting and a nice mix for the Perry figures.

Anyway, we are having building work done on Lard Island at present so my painting desk is piled high with rubbish which we have had to shift from the old store to allow the new warehouse and workshop section to be built.  However, while the wife is at work I have been nabbing the kitchen table to make a start on my Spanish village.  I've used a mix of Grand Manner, Empress Miniatures and Charlie Foxtrot models for the project as well as adding to these with a bit of cheap and cheerful modelling to get the look I want.

You can read part one here:  http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=6317

And Part Two here:  http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=6342

A couple of gratuitous snaps will give you the general idea.

More to follow tomorrow.

Cheers

Rich

Excellent looking buildings. Nice detail and very realistic looking. I bet they will be well used. Thanks for sharing.

Peachy, those Charlie Foxtrot buildings with the resin extras look to be a very useful idea.

A bit more village building this week, specifically a windmill on a rocky outcrop.  The Grand Manner building is really nice to begin with, so my input was to simply shove a lump of a hill on a base and slap some paint on it.

You'll find the whole story on Lard Island News here: http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=6402

Gratuitous snaps below:

Glorious stuff! My only advice would be to vary the tile colour a little, pan tiled roofs are rarely uniform in colour.

Just read through the whole series; I really like your approach to this. Those Charlie Foxtrot buildings turned out very well.
