Question on the 'Numb' Talent
« on: January 17, 2017, 04:00:48 PM »
In the rulebook a Character with 'Numb' ignores the first hit in an engagement.

Does this relate to fighting only or does this include shooting.

Whilst I read it as the latter, after seeing two mummified priests taken down by British volley fire in a damned unsporting fashion I thought I ought to check.

I've always assumed it included hits from Shooting.

Which begs another question...

An engagement as a fight is straightforward to quantify...

When shooting; Is an engagement treated as all missiles directed towards the 'numb' figure in one phase...or is each single shooting attack treated as a separate engagement (which would effectively make the said target invulnerable to shooting). I would assume the former.

My apologies for the tardy reply - work got in the way again  :D

An 'engagement' in this sense is a game. So, the first time the figure is hit it just ignores it.

So if four figures volley fire and hit essentially that is one attack?  Away from my books so uncertain how volley fire works right now pre-coffee.

We tended to play Numb, as ignores the first failed Pluck test. As most figures with it tend to have quite good pluck, so it seemed a bit poor to just ignore the first hit, which was likely to be saved anyway.
