I was also thinking on the mounts issue and what, exactly, could be done to get them into acceptable "animal" condition.
I came up with these Traits:
Non-Learning (Campaign Use Only)
(N) -4XPThe character is unable to add additional traits as a campaign progresses. It is possible to purchase this Trait off by paying the 4XP difference.
Non-Sentient(N) -6XPThe character's action is randomly determined if they are not within 4" of a character that does not have the Non-Sentient trait. Roll a dice and find it off this table:
1-5 | The character does no action. |
6-10 | The character runs away from the nearest enemy. |
11-15 | The character attacks the nearest enemy or runs to within attack distance. |
16-20 | The character runs towards the nearest friendly character that does not have the Non-Sentient trait. |
It is possible to purchase this trait off by paying the 6XP difference.
Animal(N) 5XPThe character possesses both the Non-Learning and Non-Sentient traits but they do not get the negative XP from these traits. The character is able to purchase the Claws trait even if the Theme does not allow for it. The character is unable to make any actions that involve Grenades, Tech or First Aid. The character is only able to make Leadership rolls for others with the Animal Trait. The character cannot hold weapons and may not pick up equipment during the course of a game. The character may take natural weapons in the same way as Robots can take in-built weapons. The character is not counted as a character for the purposes of squad size but must have at least a total of 30XP spent on them as other characters do. If Non-Learning or Non-Sentient are bought off then this character is counted as a character for the purposes of squad size.
