King Buggy Conversion
« on: January 24, 2017, 09:42:32 AM »
I am working on a robot army of some description and currently converting a Rackham AT-43 Karman King Buggy into an aircraft.

Luckily they do not use much glue when making these things so it is easy to crack them open.

I am using a Spartan Games Dystopian Legions Automotan as the pilot, being sufficiently robot like...

I started by building up a seat and decided to use some of the kid's Lego...

I hope there is enough detail in here so when it is painted it does not look to plain.

One thing I am not happy with is what to use as a yoke.

Currently all I have is a pin...

There is more here.
So much to do, so little time...

Definitely keeping a eye on this thread as I have a number of these Buggies ( I think about ten)

That is a great start, really clever use of those buggies.
 8) 8)

As for a 'yoke': How about using some plastic sprue where the a natural 'T' is formed?
It should be easy enough to glue more plastic to it to get the correct shape, and cheap as well.
 ;)

Thought the same thing, but all the sprue I seem to have is thicker than I wanted. I will have to just try ro make something.

Just been adding some nice big cannon to the nose cones. These are Ramshackle cannon from Curtis' resin range.

I can't believe these two models have been sitting around for so long. I know I had run out of spray paint but this is ridiculous.

At least the nice weather means I can undercoat stuff without worrying about atmospheric moisture content etc...

Just getting started again.

I'm sure I am not the only one who starts on a project and then gets sidetracked, "oh, look new shiny stuff". I really need to have more self control and get a few things finished before I start something new.

Glad you're back on this as I have a few Buggies myself and was wondering what you are going to do with the undercarriage.
I'm going for a "Vanship" Look from the "Last Exile" anime but have stalled finding the right bits for the right look for the underside and rear engine assembly.

was wondering what you are going to do with the undercarriage.
I was not intending to make any undercarriage, these are being made to go on flying stands.

I know what you mean though with the Vanship design, but if I was to make undercarriage, it would likely be three legs off the middle of the fuselage, I may yet have a go...
