Scots/Pict Warlord

I've just finished painting the 2016 Free Saga Grand Melee Miniature (blimey that's a mouthful )
I'm not 100% sure whether its a Scot or Pict though

Impressive pj on a somewhat cartoonesque impression of a Dark Age type warrior. Love the tartan, but also the iron colouring of the helmet is pretty effective  .

That's a precision job on that tartan, would you mind explaining the sequence.. is so impressive.

The last time I did a similar thing it looked ok until I photographed it, that's when I realised how bad my eye sight and painting was

I painted the base colour & did some light highlights on them, then painted on the thick stripes with Vallejo English uniform, then at each point where they meet I painted a black square (very thinned down paint). Next I painted the thin red stripes & finally the white (actually pale Grey)

Yes - I was afraid you were going to say that, I was hoping you had used a pen to get the fine lines because to paint them so evenly is in my mind quite amazing.

Oh well back to the drawing board.
