German mortar and Soviet maxim
« on: February 07, 2017, 06:56:01 AM »
I recently finished painting these figures.  They are from Black Tree Design and are for them.

These guys were a blast to paint.  I always told myself that if I were to paint WW2 Germans, then I would get some Vallejo paints.  I have to admit, I really like those paints.  I'm also feeling the pull of painting WW2.  The problem is that I need another period to paint/game like I need another hole in the head.  Plus I don't think "She Who Must Be Obeyed" would approve further funds to but more figures on top of what I normally buy and would tax her limitless patience with me.  So this little dabble in the ocean that is WW2 is very refreshing  :D

Any C&C is welcome, thanks for looking.

Great paint jobs!  I've painted quite a few Black Tree WW2 figures including a Soviet Maxim team:

although your painting is much nicer than mine.

Nice painting.  What colours did you use for the Germans?

Thank you all for the complements.
@gpruitt, Your figures look great, you have more painted than I do.  I have only 2 to spend some extra time on them.
@Thargor, I have to dig out my paint list and get back to you.

Just found the sheet that I wrote down what colors I used.  I relied on a few online guides on what colors to use, but mainly I used the painting guides found on Artizan Design website.  All paints are from Vallejo unless otherwise stated.  For the coat I used German Fieldgrey+Black (3/1), German Fieldgrey, then Green Grey.  On the pants, German Grey, Dark Bluegrey, Dark Bluegrey+Ivory (1/1).  The haversack, Khaki, Khaki+Ivory (1/1). Ammo pouch, Russet (Americana-a craft paint) then a wash of Badab Black form GW.  The Gasmask container, German Cammo Dark Green then the same with Ivory added (3/1).
All were painted in the layer style.  Hope this helps.
