Knight Models drops Marvel license
« on: February 09, 2017, 05:46:49 PM »
Folks wanting Knight Models Marvel figures may want to grab them while they can.  KM announced they are dropping the Marvel line.

I've noticed a few online retailers already selling out of some of the line...

Marked absence of Marvels-ness on their website...

I can imagine players must be really annoyed by this. Your game now has *POOF* become OOP. Shame, awesome models.

Nice to have a bit of warning so I could download the cards. :(

Anyone know where the character cards live now?

Me neither. I'll have a go if I can get them depending how big the files are.

Huh!  I was tempted by some of the recent Marvel releases but I guess I'm glad I didn't jump in if they are dropping the line.   :(

Not dropping, they have dropped. They are no longer fulfilling Marvel orders, Marvel is no longer on their site, and the final restocks have gone out.

There is already scarcity for various models leading to some incredibly inflated prices on Ebay and trade groups.

Losing the game doesn't really bother me too much, as there are plenty of systems I could use them in.

However, not being able to procure some of the ones I wanted without paying insane robber baron prices irks me.

I blame Knight Models entirely. If they'd said "we're dropping it in three months but there will be supplies made available until then" then players could have planned purchases. They'd have got their Venom, Thanos. Doctor Octopus and whatever at normal retail and Knight, Marvel and the retailers would have had a final profit from the licence. Instantly dropping it without a word of warning creates the market of high demand and low supply which makes prices rocket.

Absolutely agree.   I would have certainly taken advantage of it, had they announced it.

I have managed to get a few for 'normal' prices, but I saw a 'Loki' on Ebay for over $130 and people actually bidding on it!!

Didn't they do the same exact thing with their Star Wars line?

I didn't follow that one so much, but remember that both their LotR and SW lines disappeared rather abruptly and without warning and without any completeness.

That and the way they treated their Marvel license made me stop buying in their stuff large scale when they had their anniversary sale earlier this year.

Heck they even advertised for an oncoming Spiderman TT thought to be compatible with Batman. All trashed and wasted bucks for those who had already bought the minis.
