One thought - I'd like to see a compulsory 15mm round in LPL just to sort out the men from the boys....just my 2p!

That sounds like a good idea.

I don't believe I have ever voluntarily owned a 15mm figure.  Don't think I would start for an LPL.

Thanks Paddy649, you're far too kind!

I really like the idea of a 15mm round in LPL, it would be great to see how this group paints and sets the scene for some awesome 15s!

Sinewgrab, I used to feel the wway you do, but there's something very special about being able to paint a twelve-unit army in a single month! It also really allowed me to get better at painting 28mm figures. After painting a handful of 15mm figures, painting details on a 28mm figure is almost child's play!

Thanks

The LPL was never limited to a certain scale in any round. I would prefer if it were kept like that. To specify/require a scale would only limit the number of contestants, I feel. I can not imagine that a gamer would pick the challenge to paint a scale in which he doesn´t play. I like the idea of bonus points for a special theme. Maybe this could apply to a scale bonus too. To be fair there should be a bonus for different scales too then (e.g. "bigger than 28mm scale", "smaller than 28mm scale" instead of "15mm", "20mm", "40mm", "54mm" and so on).

Couldn't it just be a bonus thing? 15mm is hardly worse than a any other bonus theme.

I like it!

Of course it could be. Although I would suggest to add another bonus theme for another scale other than 28mm for fairness.

I don't believe the LPL has ever had "compulsory" rounds, and I don't really think it should start now. What do you do if someone simply doesn't submit a new entry that week, or ignores the stipulation? Kick them out of the competition?

Bonus points is the way to go.

Compulsory scale of 15mm is a terrible idea. My 2p.

Whoops, in my earlier post I didn't mean to agree with a compulsory 15mm round, I was thinking it could be considered as a 'bonus' theme. My reading comprehension was off ;)

Past bonus rounds have included some pretty niche things.

This was also my point

Sorry my bad!  Poorly worded.  I should have said "I'd like to see a 15mm specific Bonus Round"  That may act as a bit of a leveller for smaller scales.  Not suggesting anything compulsory....

Not sure how scale based bonus points would work......although in the far less prestigious Battlefront Painting League we occasionally run with an "armed stubble" modifier to balance the judging between 6mm and 15mm or larger scales.

Just submitted my round 7 entry, a little too close to the deadline for my liking...

I'll plan to take pictures this weekend for round 8!

Thanks

Here's a staging shot for round 2.

I noticed that the camera was over-exposing the shot, so I just put a piece of white plastic in the frame to trick the camera into thinking it was lighter, and so automatically reducing the exposure. It seemed easier than figuring out how to use the camera properly ;)

Funny thing, the webs weren't as obvious in the final picture, and I wasn't really too happy with them anyway. Worst thing is that I couldn't really get the stuff completely out of the trees afterward!

Thanks

Same thing happened to me in my Mirkwood LPL entry from a few years ago  ;)

Round Seven photo just submitted at or possibly after the last minute!  ;D

Looked up from doing the usual Saturday household chores (pints of coffee, harassing the cat, laundry, the usual...) and realized I hadn't actually taken the Round 7 photos yet, so dashed them off.

I guess they'll become my Round 8 entry and I'll take my re-run lumps on 7 if I'm too late...
