Anyone do Frogmen / Divers in 28mm?
« on: March 12, 2009, 01:04:50 PM »
Hello,

I have been hunting about for 28mm Frogmen but cannot find any.

Does anyone know of any companies that make them?

I am not sure which forum is best to put this onto (I poped it onto the future wars forum to) so if you think it might be answered better elsewhere please let me know.

Thanks

Eureka do some.
Alternative armies have their 'todoroni' in the flintloque section under the ferach armee as well. Perhaps too napoleonic...
The Eureka ones would work a treat though.  ;)

Difficult call on the Frogmen. WW2 style frogmen seem to be non-existent at the moment; I do vaguely recall one of them years ago (maybe in the RAFM range?), but I honestly can't remember details. I do know they're pretty much not available at the moment, unless the gentlemen who discussed making a range of divers here has made any progress in his quest.

Hardsuits are a little easier to come by...

There are some good "Hard Suit" diver types available from Brigade, and Recreational Conflict does them in a style similar to that of "Bioshock"; there is also a single hard suit diver in the queue for release with the Reaper "Chronoscope" Range; I like the fig, though he's fairly static (actually sort of an appropriate pose given the weight he's wearing).

Scheltrum also do some excellent diving suit types in a variety of styles, and HLBS did them at one time, although I'm not sure whether they're still available.

Brigade does a nice Hardsuit set. I believe one of them is the crew on the surface of the water. Can't recall off hand if the diver comes with them or is separate (probably comes with them).

Finally, Reverisco does some great "20,000 Leagues" style hardsuits, ala Disney, with removable helmets. However, these are very slimly proportioned figs, and I have been warned that they don't even scale up with "true 28" size figures like Pulp, etc.

Eureka are the first to my mind:

They can be found here:

Hope they're what you're after :)

Yonks ago there was talk on the Darkson Designs forums about them doing some frogmen, might be worth dropping an email to see if they're still in the works (however as AEWWII is an alternate history game, they might be all weirdy and thus not suitable for your purposes...)

Although you stated 28mm, I remember that Platoon 20 had one Egyptian frogman and an Israeli one which might fit well what you want, but they are 20(?)mm

Cheers for the ideas everyone. I will try and run down a few of the lead given here and if anything comes of them I will let you know.

I suspect that this is something I will have to put on a back burner for now, until someone releases some frogmen that are more suited to my ideas. The Eureka ones are cool, but are just not right for what I want unfortunately.

Thanks for the help everyone.
