Tanatus Saxons
« on: February 24, 2017, 11:14:43 AM »
I bought and painted these up for a recent SAGA CAMPAIGN as Anglo Saxons. I decided on a vaguely Christian theme of cross shields and a mainly monochromatic colour scheme. Mainly to reduce the pondering time.
IN the actual campaign, they did poorly, but Anglo Saxons don't seem that suited to fighting in four point groups as driven by AoTW.
I'll be finishing them off with a few units of archer levy during the Spring. I'm in Frugal February at the moment, so no purchases for another four days....

Great job on those. I especially like the spears.

Very nice.

I don't know why it has never occured to me to dirty up the end of the spears. It makes perfect sense. Consider that idea stolen. I am going to do that from now on, perhaps I will even have to go back and dirty some of my already painted spears.

Those are nice looking.  I haven't painted or worked with those miniatures, I'll have to take a look at them.

I recall playing the Angry-Saxons in SAGA  and they did not suit 4-point games at all.
All their board actions require large units

Lovely paintjob on these (haven't seen them in 2017). Where are you based? I have a bit of them, mostly spearmen and some archers. Gutted as well that no-one is selling them anymore, so I couldn't complete a SAGA warband. Dropping you a PM and we shall see if we can work something out :)
