One might maybe want to debate how underused they are as game settings go, but they certainly aren't a dime a dozen:

Interesting site but as you said, those specific example settings are definitely not underused in gaming.  I can think of at least one minis gaming example for every one of them without straining, and there are probably even more if we expand to the roleplaying and board/cardgame categories.
