Old West Town Swag
« on: February 21, 2017, 10:55:29 AM »
Howdy folks,
Where is the best place to town interiors? I am not using MDF, so resin buildings all the way. I have used Old Glory in the past. They did well, but I need some work benches for a gun shop and other bits. I know of Frontline, but have not used them.

I thought about just making them out of scrap micro lumber. Anyone else have ideas?

Have you a particular aversion to MDF?  Is it acceptable for the furniture and/or town dressing?

I have some Frontline Wargaming stuff and quite like them although I find them a bit small.  You can make some stuff with Hirts Arts casts (you don't have to buy the molds; there are folks who sell the casts for you).  I do like 4ground, but they are MDF.  Tiny-furniture sells painted and unpainted stuff, but it comes from the Russian Federation IIRC, so shipping is perhaps more dear than you'd like, and again, you could make much of those things by carefully selecting the right Hirst molds.

Look at Knuckleduster's vignettes.

Just hit the 4ground site, and for some reason their furnishings and stuff of that sort are not appearing.  Check Noble Knight Games; they have a decent selection of the stuff that you could see, then find a vendor near you if you aren't in the US.

Yea, I have an aversion to MDF. My buildings are all resin and I don't think they mix all that well. Silly me for putting so much into resin  right before MDF came out. But, I like the look and feel. Just wish someone cough cough hack hack would get their production of buildings back on line. Trying to buy second hand is a tough go...You do find a gem once in a blue moon, but at this point my lead citizens will bail for another town..

Why not check out Ainstey Castings Tradertown range? Here's a link to it -

I think the resin looks better than the mdf.  Some of the mdf buildings are brilliantly designed... but they all look like mdf.  On the other hand, with Western buildings that is not such a big thing.

Reaper has a fairly inexpensive table and bench set:

At $3.00, not too bad.

Also Tabletop World has a nice selection of furniture, although a fair amount of it will look too Medieval for your uses.

Fenris have some nice resin furniture, some of it 19th century style - the desks and cabinets might be particularly good. (I don't have any of these, but have bought lots of their scenery items, all great quality.)

Where are you based? I do have quite a few of the OOP Snapdragon buildings sitting around unused.
