Personally, definitely in the last category, but I feel Paleskin has missed an important option:

"Tons, but many of them are at Bob's house waiting paint so don't count towards the tally of shame."

Well I think I'm in the 500-1000 category. But if you include miniatures from boardgames such as descent, heroquest, and a myriad of others then I would be easily over 1000. I always plan on painting them but the lead gets in the way.

I am not answering this question until you sign a non disclosure contract. If my significant other was ever to find out the true extent of the mountain I would be in a world of trouble.

Probably around a couple of hundred in actual lead... I've been pretty disciplined at getting it down over the last couple of years...

The plastic, on the other hand... Dear God, the plastic...  ;)

Boxes and boxes of the wretched things. But hey, they're not made up, so they don't really count, right?  :D

Well, only yesterday I noticed a few new lead comets orbiting around the Constellation of Shame, so....  lol
Let's keep it at a couple of 1000, upwards and counting, that's doesn't sound too problematic, does it?

Yup, in the last category but if helps i´m reducing at a steady pace so within some months probably the 1000 or so.

A question. Does the painted ones count too? ::)

I had a... significant... number collected over the years.  I blame Kickstarters (mostly anyway).

Last year I sold or gave away a ton of minis, swore off the big Kickstarters, and upped my painting output while I was off sick.  So I'm under the 100, and I will paint what's left this year if I don't buy any more.

Since that's known to be unhealthy, I am going to the Hammerhead show today to extend my life expectancy ;)

I assume I'm in the 500-1000 category.
I might be over it, but I don't feel like doing an actual count.
Also, I'm afraid of what I might find.

Not sure the missus agrees on the 'good effort' assesment.

I think I have crossed the magical marker where I have several thousand miniatures, but *the majority is painted*!

its on my bucket list to have 90% that I want to paint in the lead pile, painted when I go, the rest got rid of.

Always too big. I get a mountain, get overwhelmed, sell it off at half of what I paid, and then typically start over the same mad cycle. It's really quite stupid.  o_o

I think a lot of us do that. You dump all your stuff when you 'grow up' then years down the line get all nostalgic and collect it all again before deciding to flog it all again only to really wish you hadn't sold that special piece or particular set of models. It's why I rarely get rid of stuff these days as I know I'll want it again at some point.

I'm reckoning I'm in the 1000+ category as far as lead mountain shame goes. Might have come in under that had it not been for all the plastic in the GW games I've been hoarding over these past few years.

Hmmm, probably around 100 to 150 in metal, not including a box of 15mm British Colonials waiting for a project.

In plastic that's another matter. A lot of Hat 1/72 plastic Punic Wars figures for Warmaster. Then there's 50 Daleks for a Dalek civil war project, and a load of Heroclix & Horrorclix waiting for rebasing & repainting.

Waiter, my soup is giggling.

My lead mountain is now probably the biggest it's ever been. But there is nothing I want to get rid of, everything is going to get painted and gamed with.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Bold words there!  ;)

I think I'd be better off cataloguing everything and teaching my GF how to list stuff on Ebay.  lol
