I have made well in excess of £1000 selling off figures I will not paint in my lifetime.  It was quite cathartic. I will not be buying into new periods in the foreseeable future, either.  I am happy to be rid of all that baggage.

At one time, I would have agreed, I used to go to 6 or 7 shows a year and spend a lot, the last two years I have only been to two, this year it will be one and that will be as a seller.....

Bloody hell, Red, you're going to have to stop painting figures for other people and crack on!

Just in 28mm lead it's over a 1,000 (1,136 if my estimate list is accurate - yes I am sad enough to have a spreadsheet, but hey I'm an accountant!)

I'm trying not to add too much this year and finally finish off some of the half-completed forces.

Oh dear I have a spreadsheet as well  lol That's how I know I have 760 28mm to paint. I do now have a few 40mm but they are off the radar at the moment. Still categorised as "samples"  :)

bit of fun........ lol

im in the 'worst' category o_o
Define "worst".  We have lots unpainted, but the two mountains are combined so I can't claim mine is particularly horrible.  The rest are Weaver's.  Honest.

Painted 770 last year without buying anything new. Have painted 123 so far this year. Haven't hardly put a dent in the pile. I have been collecting for a long time though. Have some figures in the pile that are older then most of the folks on this forum.

I must have sold off around £8,000 of kit painted and unpainted out of necessity at one point however you are right it can be refreshing, though the painted stuff I still cringe as new projects come up tat the club or with mates and my mantra is...I used to have....  :)

Yup, in the last category but if helps i´m reducing at a steady pace so within some months probably the 1000 or so.

Decreasing yours, increasing mine :)

If we're counting all unpainted miniatures and not just metals, happy to say that I've whittled myself down from around the 200-300 mark to a tiny handful in the last few months. Considering I amassed about 250 unpainted Mantic and GW fantasy miniatures in the space of two years, I won't be too surprised if that jumps up again considerably in the near future, but moving away from mass army games into skirmish territory has made it a lot easier to stay focused and committed when I start painting.

As somebody whose still very fresh to the hobby, it's nice to be able to jump between projects now without knowing I've got a hundred miniatures to come back to as well; and knowing that I can realistically get a project finished up to start gaming with in a few weeks instead of having months of work ahead is really helping with hobby motivation  :D Painting time's still very limited at the moment due to planning a big interstate move in a few months and taking on more work to fund that, but I actually feel like I'll have at least two or three leagues fully painted for Pulp Alley by the time we move, whereas if I'd stuck with AoS or KoW I'd have barely made a dent in the pile.
