28mm Operation Torch Americans?
« on: March 05, 2017, 04:58:24 AM »
I am just now getting into Bolt Action and WW2 uniforms are not my speciality. My friends have North Africa armies and I would like to come on the board with Americans for Operation Torch or later. What figures am I looking for? Who makes nice figures for this specific time frame?

For much of it troops in M41 Parsons jackets, although there was quite a bit of use of the HBT uniform. Nobody makes the latter so Parsons jackets it is and virtually every range depicts them as such. About the only ones that don't are the brand new Empress range and the OOP Wargames Factory one.

Take your pick. Crusader, Artizan, BTD or Gothic Line according to taste. The first two share the same weapons greens and are quite compatible. I don't have them myself but I must say I like the look of the Gothic line range although it's fairly limited in scope. Warlord also produce GIs but I will concede I'm not a big fan of most of their ranges. your mileage may vary.

Oh, I was assuming you want 28mm. If it's 20mm the choice is easy: AB. 15mm no idea.

Micheal Perry has dropped some pretty large hints that he plans to do American's for North Africa at some point.

That would be nice but also frustrating as I bought some of the 8th Army metal figures to fit in with my Eureka Australians only to find they are tiny.

I was hoping this would be the case.  I have Perry fallschirmjager that need some Americans to fight in the North African desert!
