Triumph of Death: Skeleton Landsknecht Pike
« on: March 06, 2017, 04:17:54 AM »
While working on the upcoming kickstarter, I started playing around with what other unit options could look like, and I converted a couple of javelin models into pike.
Really happy with the outcome, to the point where I'm having the javelin model remastered to be open handed instead. The hat is from an old plastic Mordheim set. It's a bit big on the skelly (having been made for someone with hair and, well, skin) but gets the idea across, and I like the splash of color.

What do you think?
Cheers

Yeah, that's a cracking idea.
I love the idea of a skellie pike block!
Good idea to have them open-handed - players can then choose whether to have spears or pikes and it means that wire weapons can used instead of either bendy lead ones or ones as thick as a telegraphy pole!

Not sure about the hat, though. You're right, it is too big, but I also don't like the style either. The occasional helmet wouldn't be bad though.
And as I looked at the models I kept thinking one thing - where's their necks?

Humakt- thanks for the feedback. That's the joy of kitbashes, you get to discover for both good or ill, without paying to have a green sculpted. As for necks, I think it's just the angle of the shot. They do have them :) You can see them on the halberdiers here. Those skull are heavy, without having much muscle to hold them up.
