Chinese Nationalist Project - Update 30/03/17
« on: March 11, 2017, 10:52:44 AM »
'Ello Laffers,

So it seems I have started yet another BA army (Number 6  :o ), this time Chinese Nationals which'll be for the Sino-Japanese war/early WW2.

It's also a first for me as I'll be using a Grey primer for the first time rather than my tried and trusted Halford's Black.

As you can see they came out a tad more blue then I was expecting but I quite like it, I used a old Citadel Shadow Grey for the base then black washed and re highlighted up.

The skin was a pain but in the end I settled for a English Uniform base with mixed in VGC Tanned Flesh. The Khaki was simple with just VMC Khaki over the grey base with white added to highlight.

Overall I'm quite happy so far, while I have taken some liberty's with the Uniform and colours it seems to have worked.

Thanks for looking, C&C always welcome.

Blimey! You don't hang around do you!

Nice paint job. Looking forward to seeing the rest, (probably in a weeks time)

Thank you very much mate.

Thankies, aye I'm a fast painter but that's down to having my painting station/buro always set up in my living room. So when I get 10mins spare I can jump on and do a layer or so, it all adds up to around 20-30 figures painted a week.

Citadel Shadow Grey seems to follow us gamers everywhere, I have a pot of the same and it seems to get more use than most. These figures are very nice indeed, nice to see more cool stuff from you (I'm a fan of the blog too!).

Aye I still have alot of early 1990's -2000's Citadel paint from when I first started in the hobby, they have since been replaced with other brands but now and again like the Shadow Grey they get used.

And thank you very much.

Update tomorrow with the 2nd batch painted (Bases are currently drying).

Smallish Update:

So first up is a Captain/Commander/Other with 2 assistants with WW1 era Submachine guns and his trusty Umbrella.

Yeah I know, I taken another uniform liberty with painting the Adrian-style helmets blue. Didn't fancy green or black.

9 rank and file Nationalists, another 5 left to complete this Squad including a Banner and Bugler.

I will have 2 Squads with this set up when I'm all done.

A MMG/HMG depending on rules/fluff, still need a 3rd crewman.

I've also started on 2 hand painted banners which I'm not happy with but alas I have no printer so they will have to do (Pictures next time).

Well thanks for looking.

Those are great, really coming along nicely! It's a rarely seen era too, which is a bonus. What basing technique are you using, can't work out if that's a gel or other?

The umbrella, by the way, is perfect.

Thankies, the basing is just Vallejo Grey Pumice layered thick over a grey base. I love a snow base but my other snow bases are a real pain in the bum to do so this time I just went quick and easy, I may add some snow flock to add a little something though.

Good Morning Vietnam!

What?

China is close enough right?

It isn't Morning?

Bollocks to you!

So it's been 15 days the last WW2/BoB Chinese update and the force was just starting to look like something other than a random collection of figures, now though it's almost a small gaming force.

(Ohhh just noticed that damn moldline)

More pictures and random stuff on my blog post (http://oldhammeronabudget.blogspot.co.uk/2017/03/back-of-beyond-chinese-painted-pt3.html)

Thanks for looking.
