Big Dudes?
« on: February 28, 2009, 07:44:50 PM »
Hey, can you folks point out some minis of larger than normal 'humans?' The closest I have found so far is Darkson design's rohlingsoldat: http://store.valueweb.com/servlet/darksondesigns/-strse-169/German-Rohlingsoldat/Detail. With head swaps and a few other changes these would be ok.

So they should be around 3 to 4 meters tall in 28-30mm scale, muscular humanoids dressed in modern clothing and/or armour. Any kind of GW ogres or imperial ogryns are out of question. Anything like this around?

Depends which figures you're using to measure from. For example; if you were using Perry miniatures I'd say Copplestone would be a good ‘large’ size.
I told you so. You damned fools.

But surely not 3-4 m tall.

40 mm minis might do the trick? HLBS is doing a 40 mm modern horror range.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I don’t know if it will help but maybe you could take a look at the Graven Images range… Some of these figures could be a good start for conversion and they will stand tall beside regular 28mm.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

There are a few figures in Four Colors' Superfigs line that might work. They're spandex-clad, usually, but you could modernize the clothing with greenstuff.

Today I got two of the Reaper Chronoscope "Intergalactic Marines". Compared to my Future Wars figures (old Grenadier models), they are at least a head taller and much bulkier. But for 3-4 meters, you might wish to consider 40mm or even 54mm scale figures.

Hasslefree's Jotun? (Don't have one myself, but it's on the list of 'possible things to convert into super mutants', hopefully someone else here can advise on just how big it is...)

Hasslefrees Ogrin would work too.

Have got one of the Hasslefree jotun that i'm going to use as a mutated experiment - IMHO the minis are ideal for either a Resident Evil, or Fallout Super-mutant type of game, and the conversion pack gives you lots of yummy weapon options!

Thanks for the tips fellers, I knew you would come through!

Hasslefree look promising, and I have been meaning order some of their stuff anyways. Those Ramshackle ones would be nice for supermutants, but they're not exactly what I am looking for now. I have some of the Reaper Chronoscope figs ordered already, so I can see personally if they'd work. :)
