Pulp Minis 'Date' Question

Hi All,

I'm dipping my toes in pulp - got some great Pulp Miniatures minis coming. Now, I'm not the most familiar with inter-war period and need some help with weapons. I plan to paint up a selection from these two packs:





I'm not a crazy history stickler, but a sailor having a tommy gun (as the bottom left follicly-challenged chap in image one does) puts these in the mid 30's... is that right?

Actually, both the Tommy Gun and the BAR were around in the 1920s.  A few were smuggled into Ireland and China during their civil wars.

Ah OK, thanks - course, gangsters is the 20's... durp.

OK cool - I plan on some vaguely King Kong antics, but I've also been thinking about some bayou/a little bit Cthulhu stuff (locals places for local people!) both of which these guys will work as protagonists for.

The Thompson submachine gun was invented in 1918:

The Browning automatic rifle was designed in 1917 and first produced in 1918:

Basically you can use those fellows for anytime in the interwar period.

And even a little while after the war, if 50's pulp is your thing.

Excellent - thanks all. I had looked up the invention dates but doubted that correlated with some sailors having them... not sure how people got hold of ol' guns back then. Lovely job - now to shop for some adversaries....

Guns would have been relatively easily to acquire in the 20's or 30's, so long as you could afford them.

Or steal them.  There were a few thefts from National Guard armories in the 1920's; in at least one of them at least one BAR was taken.
