Thanks lads!
And finally some new stuff done:

Morgan & Duane

Nice sculpts with lots of character, although their hair lacks definition. I painted them in the colours from the series and upped the contrast a bit on Morgan's shirt. In general nice to paint and they went bloody fast. Glueing Duane's foot to the clear base was...interesting...but went well! It stuck fast and the bond is good. Pfew!

Derek

Great sculpt with lots of character. Had fun with the scuffed leather coat. Really prefer this method to clean and smooth leather...much more fun to paint :D.

Walkers

Painting walkers is addictive! They're fast to paint and you can't really do them wrong. Just a matter of basecoating, some blending, some drybrushing, some washing, adding weird colours. Made a mistake? Add some washes and blood and filth. And after a while you have a painted walker! Easy, fast and fun, what's not to like. The first one has a Confederate cap (fits the sculpt IMO), the second a silly old man's sweater, the third's Morgan's deceased wife (really nice sculpt!) and the last is wearing some sports outfit.

12 miniatures done, so time for some scenery. I am now working on a house, filled with a lot of furniture for a scenario. Hope to finish it soon!

Lovely stuff.
I love your Morgan and Duane. Their story in the comic was hardbreaking.

I love that you painted a dark skinned zombie.
I didn't even think about not painting them all caucasian and the dead flesh looks really good.

Great job.

The dark skinned zombie is Morgan's wife.

These are brilliant! Any chance of a skin recipe for the walkers?  :)

Great looking figures!  I especially like Morgan and Duane.  The Morgan figure is probably one of my favorites and you did a fine job on a fine figure.

Thanks guys! I agree with the assessment on Morgan, excellent sculpt and his pose works well although it's very static.

These are brilliant! Any chance of a skin recipe for the walkers?  :)

Easy!
1. Basecoat with Citadel Rakarth Flesh
2. Wash with Army Painter Flesh Wash
3. Wash lightly with Citadel Magenta Ink
4. Wash with Army Painter Strong Tone
5. Highlight with Citadel Rakarth Flesh
6. Highlight with Citadel Rakarth Flesh + Vallejo Model Colour Ivory.

Seems like a lot of steps, but since 3 steps consist of applying washes it's fast and simple. A matter of basecoating, washing and then getting the highlights in.

For Morgan's wife I did the following:
1. Basecoat with Vallejo Model Colour Chocolate Brown
2. Wash with Army Painter Dark Tone
3. Wetbrush with Vallejo Model Colour Chocolate Brown + Citadel Rakarth Flesh
4. Apply some very light highlights with Citadel Rakarth Flesh

Hey guys,

Haven’t posted in while now, but I have played several games now. I made two scenarios for solo/coop play and played them with my mates. Both were fun and worked well.

Farm Raid
PDF: http://paintoholic.nl/twd/farmraid.pdf

Rick, Morgan and the kids travelled to the farm in the hope of securing the food and supplies. Hopefully they would find some much needed food. They approach the farm carefully and decide to move around the left together. Carl spots a walker and shoots it down with his gun. This draws a walker closer. Rick moves around the corner of the farm to take the shot walker down for good…but is assaulted by a walker. His blade flashes and he plunges the hunting knife into a skull.

While Carl moves by the fence towards one of the penned lots, the others move around the farm to take on the walkers.

Carl shoots another walker and Morgan and Duane make a run for the pig. While Morgan fights the walker, Duane starts to pummel the pig. Carl finds a hockey stick, while Rick gets some food supplies.

Duane kills the pig and shoves it in his backpack. Father and son then quickly move towards the ther penned lot. Meanwhile, Rick and Carl are having trouble with all of the walkers converging on them. Carl quickly jumps over the wall and starts to beat on the pig with the hockey stick. Morgan jumps past the car to help Rick fight off four walkers. Duane gets in the car and tries to rig it.

Carl is having trouble killing the pig and Duane is getting nervous with the walkers around so he comes to help Carl. Together they take on the pig, while Rick and Morgan get more and more…red.

Finally, the pig succumbs and Duane hauls it to the car. He tosses it in the trunk and gets back to rigging the car. Carl on the other hand, has trouble scaling the slick muddy wall. Rick and Morgan keep pushing the walkers away, but can’t manage to take them down for good. And then Morgan gets bitten…! He takes damage and infection sets in.

Morgan feels terrible and has a hard time standing on his feet. While he, Rick and Duane jump in the car…Carl desperately tries to climb the wall. If he doesn’t manage to climb it, the walkers will swarm the car and feast on them. Finally finding a good spot, Carl manages to scramble over the wall and run for the car. Jumping in, Morgan slams the door shut and Rick speeds away. They’ve found all of the food…but at what cost? Morgan eyes his left arm and hands his hatchet to Duane. “Do it son..take it off…”

Cool game. It went really well and we weren’t really having problems..but once Morgan got bitten we had to hurry! As a Runner Duane jumped over the penned lots with ease..but Carl really struggled! If he hadn’t succeeded in the last turn, it would have been bloody. But we were lucky and escaped. Cool ending.

Camp in the Woods

PDF: http://paintoholic.nl/twd/campinthewoods.pdf

“While Morgan recovers from the amputation, Rick and Carl go out scavenging again. They are joined by Sandra and Derek. Moving through a forest, they suddenly find a small camp. It doesn’t look abandoned. Time to check it out!

Rick moves past the forest on the left side and fires at a walker. He shoots it down, but the gunfire attracts a walker who shambles towards him and Carl. Carl readies his hatchet.
Derek fires his gun and also headshots a walker…but empties his gun. Darn! Sandra makes a run around the flank.

While Rick readies himself to take on another walker he checks out the tent. He finds some more ammo, useful! He then kicks the walker aside, but can’t manage to take it down for good.  Carl rushes for the downed walker to cleave its head in two. Splut! Derek and Sandra sneak into the campsite. Sandra checks out the tent and finds a big kitchen knife. Derek could use this.

Derek and Sandra join together to take on the fat walker, but suddenly Sandra gets rushed from behind and they have to split up to take on the two walkers. Carl charges the next walker…chopping time! Rick sneaks for the next tent and readies his gun.

Carl, Derek and Sandra all push the walkers away, but can’t manage to put them down. Rick decides to help them. He sneaks around a tent and blasts the walker. It falls over, but once again no headshot! The other walkers move towards Rick, giving Derek and Carl space to move again. Sandra gets assaulted by a walker again. Derek checks a tent and finds a scared Liam! (Unfortunately I forgot to bring along Liam’s model, so we were stuck with a Cultist!). The treat is going up fast now and the walkers become more and more aggressive.

Liam’s first action is to scream…doh. The fat walker turns around and moves for Liam..lunch! But Liam pushes him away. Carl also pushes a walker away, while Sandra headshots one.

Rick searches the tent next to him…and finds more ammo. As the threat increases, Carl and Sandra decide to run away towards their base camp. Staying alive with the found supplies seems like a good idea now. One walker goes for Sandra, while Carl manages to sneak through the woods. He gets chased by a walker, but manages to evade it. Both panic when they nearly escape…but this actually moves them away. Success!
Derek makes a run for the last tent, and a walker moves for him. He just reaches him, preventing him from searching the last tent. Liam screams again! Good ol’ fattie stumbles into him again…lunch!

The other walker near Liam also turns around and joins fatty to assault Liam. The poor scared survivor is no match for two walkers and gets eaten alive. RIP.

The threat almost explodes and Rick and Derek can hear the moaning of dozens of walkers nearby. Time to leave! They both run back to leave the forest, but they are surrounded. As they run towards the forest trail, they are assaulted and then suddenly walkers appear from everywhere…game over.

Sandra and Carl catch their breath several miles away and wait for Rick and Derek…but in the distance they only hear the sounds of dozens of frenzied walkers, gunshots, shouts….and then silence. Have they made it? Are they gone? The two decide to go back to base camp and wait there. Best pray for Derek and Rick’s return…”

Interesting game! It went quite well and we were even so fortunate to find a survivor…but Liam manages to scream twice and then got eaten. Doh! The game ended with the threat at 18. This ends the game, but the rules don’t state what happens after. We talked about it and thought it would be cool in a campaign game that the survivors on the board will suffer a white die in damage as they try to escape the horde of walkers. Scary as they can get killed or bitten this way…it will ensure you will treat threat more seriously and not use it to end a game in your favour.

Nice scenarios (saved to try out later) and AARs. And I liked the twist of Liam actually being a screaming cultist lol

Cheers! Note we did use the rule from 'Prelude to woodbury' that the threat goes up by +1 at the end of each turn. That really helps to crank up the pace and keep us on edge.

Very interesting.

Were you using the normal or the Prelude event cards?

The normal deck. Easy to use for solo games. If you need to move "X eligible walkers", pick the nearest ones to engage you. Just use it to your utmost disadvantage and it works well :D
