Arena Rex Question
« on: March 27, 2017, 07:20:41 PM »
To anyone familiar with the game.

I have a few questions. First, I assume you have to put the figures together right?
Then, if so, how hard are they to put together? Some figures can be a real pain.
Finally, overall, what do you think of the figures and game?

Thanks

I hadn't heard of this, and only clicked on the post to find out something about it...which I've had to do myself.

For obvious reasons  I can't answer your question directly, but there's a review here:

http://www.adventuresinpoortaste.com/2017/01/05/the-15-best-manga-series-of-2016/

The publisher also has its own website - arenarex.com - which includes a forum with a section on the models:

http://redrepublicgames.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5&sid=724708b8ec8171aae093a3a27b89f3b2

You should probably be able to find an answer to most questions at one of the above.

I keep considering the game and getting ahold of some of the minis (I've seen a few and they look rather good, just not sure if I want to add another game to the list). Not sure about how the minis go together though

Thanks Guys,

I just found a review where the reviewer shows the figures, they come in 4-6 pieces. Body is all there but you add the arms or a foot ect.
The reviewer also stated the figures go together really easy. So, my interested has been peaked. You can get the rules for free as a download but
the figures are expensive...

Perhaps Jugula figures by Gripping Beast could work. They're metal, and come in several parts for maximum customisation. I don't know off-hand how they compare price wise with the official ones for the game, but if you're not in a hurry, North Star Figures in the UK sometimes has them discounted, though not at the moment.

Andrew,

That was my first thought, just get other figures for the game. However,
the Arena Rex figures come with stat cards needed to play the game.
Without these it would be pretty hard to play the game. I had hoped that
maybe I could download the cards, but no such luck you can only
downloaded them in Spanish.

That's unfortunate, but no doubt deliberate on the part of the publisher, as is becoming increasingly common. I can understand their reasoning, given that they want to maximise sales, but it makes it harder for people to try a system out and see whether they like it before committing a lot of cash, so in a sense it works against them too.

I hope you get to try the game somehow, and will be able to report back here.

A note regarding that, Arena Rex miniatures claim to be 35mm size so there might be scaling issues mixing other manufacturers' stuff in.

I really have no idea what I'm doing.
