28mm Soviets in snowsuits
« on: March 22, 2017, 08:30:51 PM »
Hi,
My friend Andreas recently finished a group of WW2 Soviets in snowsuits that I'd thought I'd share here. I really like the tone that he achieved on the snowsuits.

More pictures and a recipe for that snowsuit "white" can be found on our blog here:

Thats great work - the bases are excellent too
I am not going to start another army in winter gear for my Soviets but I am tempted to use them to make a third section of scouts on  camo suits   :-*

Those are great!

Who got snowsuits in the Soviet army?  Were they widespread?  I see photos with lots of men in them, and other winter photos with lots of men in greatcoats.  But I don't really know who got what.

They were relatively rare - you see them a ton in the newreel, but when you hear of guys apologising to their comrades for being wounded and getting bloody on the overalls.

I'd have jumped for joy for these figures, but the inclusion of the panzerfaust was a real turn off.  :-X

In the Red and Soviet armies camouflage suits were intended for scouts, snipers, observers, assault units, paratroopers, border guards.

I forgot - necessarily have white camouflage suits ski battalions (also shock unit).
