as for colour: Blue is a must! (even at the warm tropical weathers most sailors used to wear the blue ubiforms! see Sudan for example)

Indeed...

Which pushes me even further down the road to eventually buying some sort of real ship for them to crew as well.

The Redoubt Sudan Paddle Steamer... keeps me awake at night.   o_o

Tropical whites look smarter, and aren't as uncommon as all that. I've seen a photo of German sailors stationed in Oostende and some of them are in tropical whites. I've been there, and it can get bloody cold, I can tell you.

I agree, I am using Whites for my Prussian sailors and Blue rigs for my British chaps to differentiate between the two. :)

No offence meant, we weren't poking fun at you, don't worry. ;) Just remember its our English sense of humour. Anything remotely sexual and we collapse into schoolboy humour, giggle, go red and get really embarrassed and resort to making a joke out of it. :)

What he said. It's our inner repressed natures. Why do you think we made the 'Carry On' films?

Blue or white (when both worn) is according to the taste.
I prefer blue anyhow.

I think that Redoubts steamer is a bit overpriced, see also the old glory line of colonial guanboats! (Oh yes old glory has some sailors, too! I thinkk that they do not fit well alongside the Redoubt ones. Since I have only the OG ones I cannot comment on the redoubt.

Interesting to see these Ray as I only have six of them. There are poses there that I don't have, some very useful ones too.  :)

I expect I shall have to order some more now, seeing as how I am also going to order a large naval gun from Redoubt for a Martello Tower game I am planning.(Those beastly Prussians are planning a raid against the British coastline...) ;)

Oooh goood - I must dust off my monitor. ;)

Ray check out the pictures of my sailors for my landship HMLS Dauntless.  You can buy styrene sheet with the planking lines. I just used some left over bits of my sheets to make the bases for the sailors and they match perfectly

Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly
down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red
Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture,
torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals.

What exactly are these sailors?  With their sennet hats, I had assumed they were Copplestone, but now I'm wondering.

They look very similar to the OG Boxer rebellion Naval crew (or gun crew). Some hats/headgear are different but they are very alike. Currently residing in a box marked TO BE DONE! As are the steamer and other launches for the period.

Never saw that before!

Found in the A.C.W. : Extras : Regiment packs section.

They are great mini's and I highly recommend them, especially since all the figures are headless and you can choose what kind of head you want to put on.  You get lots of heads, BTW.
