Ok,

No more ifs, buts and maybes.

Here are the comparison shots.

The unpainted figures are the Brigade Games minis. The others are shown - pics speak for themselves a bit.

The figures are clearly smaller. They do have a 'bulk' but I'm not sure they will work with the much larger figures from Redoubt Miniatures and to a degree Front Rank....mmm.

FYI

Excellent comparison and you saved me some money as I was about to purchase some Redoubt ECW civilians to go with my KPW Brigade Games/Perry/Crusader/Warlord units.
Ordered some more BG KPW figures including the Praying Indians to bulk out my settlers as they took a hammering in the last game trying to storm an Indian village.

Your excellent research on this period has prompted me to consider expanding my forces even farther and another visit to BG at Historicon for the Dragoons is on the shopping list.

Beautiful terrain there - very evocative and quite realistic looking.

I'm glad to see you expanding your forces - you can never have too many Indian allies when you are the colonists!

 ;) ;)

I've added the next post in this short series.

This post discusses weapons used by the protagonists of King Philip's War. Please pop over if you feel so inclined.

Cheers

That village is spectacular!  :o Awesome construction...

Very useful comparison shot, too. We need more people taking the time to do what you did!

HW
As you know , I bought some KPW figures from Brigade.
They are quite small, maybe they fit with Conquest size figs ,not even sure about that ... but certainly not with my  the larger Front Rank Or Redoubt FIW at all..
I am very disappointed.
Cheers

Excellent article  8)

I will be remaking my village palisade as I am sure I can do a better job 2nd time around plus I will make it more of an oval than a circle as on a 5ft wide table it does allow much woodland to placed along the table edges.

I added 'wrapped' bows (just a shaped roll of greenputty) and quivers (from Front Rank medieval range) to some of my Indians to add variety.

The BG KPW figures fit well with Foundry, Perry, Crusader and Warlord, plus they look like they will fit work Warfare and Bicorne figures.

Gents,

Here is my last post in this short series on King Philip’s War detailing tactical aspects of conflict and the adaptation of such for use with Muskets & Tomahawks and Pikeman’s Lament rules.

Lots of discussion on game play, set up and how to organise force for play and special rules to go with them.

Hope you pop on over and pick up a few ideas.

Cheers

Great series!  These articles pretty much single-handedly got me interested in this conflict. (Although it didn't hurt that I already had a lot of the figures anyway.)

Edit: Ignore the comment re M&T. Didn't realize you had woven those rules into the discussion of troop types, etc.

Presumably the Musket and Tomahawks lists will be next?  That's the ruleset I'd be most likely to use...

Cheers and thanks for all the groundwork!

Excellent, I wonder if I could take these back 100 years or so and use them for Brazil  :P

@axabrax

 ;) ;)

The M&T lists are a link in the post...just above the Pikeman's Lament list...good to go  :P

Brazil?

I'm sure they could be taken back no problem. IMHO each period needs a close look to see what's important. Then adjustments can be made. M&T has a number of levers you can pull to get the right game effect for specific periods...very flexible.
