Good example of fire, but there wouldn’t be three tone camo at Stalingrad  lol

LOL, that’s why it’s on fire, it’s being purged by the purists.

Great work, this is such a treat to watch.

Just one comment and I hate to be picky with such great work but when a fire burns it actually burns brightest (and yellowest) at the bottom with flames going from that to orange and red before the black smoke. It's a mistake I was guilty of until someone pointed this out to me.

This is a good example as it shows petrol on fire, but you can see that it is yellow in the centre and slowly comes out to orange and red:

I found giving the base a coat of yellow first and then taking a brush and dabbing and dry brushing around the edges with orange and red shades helped get that effect on this flame and smoke that I made using clumping foam:

Thanks for the tips , i did stop and think about the yellow first and then ignored myself...................i`ll have another go at the bottoms of those two.
Cheers  AL

Amazing work :) Inspiration of the worst kind! :P

When the supposedly empty oil tanks were hit and turned out to be very, very full of oil, the story goes that Stalingrad Front Headquarters kept signalling for a response: "where are you? Where are you?"

Eventually the reply came back: "we're where the most smoke and flames are."

this looks unbelievable...  :o great, great stuff!

small question about the blue foam. I noticed you glued this foam boards on mdf-boards (my guess is 24" x 24"). Did you reinforce the corners as this foam tends to be easily damage by placing are bumping into 'things'?

I did coat it with PVA/Unibond/White wood glue then paintedit , but your right you do have to be careful with it,if i wasn`t so lazy it would have been(and still can be) reinforced on the corners by cutting the foam back and gluing something tougher against the cut back corners.

WARFARE READING 17th/18th NOVEMBER 2018

Used CoC rules , four German platoons with four support choices each attacking three Russian platoons with four support choices each.

Half the German infantry and one Russian squad are from the collection of my buddy Ade Deacon as are all the fighting vehicles.

Cheers AL

This terrain is the best I have seen. Can you please tell us the approximate hours it took? Otherwise there is a risk that we start dabbling with trying to do something similar... ;D

It is amazing how much detail you've put in, so I was ready to pose a similar question!

700-800 hours  divided by 30-35 hours a week in three seperate builds over the last year the main six boards with the factories and most sewers 3 months , the second and third 3 board builds with the trenches and the chemical tanks and the tenement blocks took about five weeks each.

Cheers AL
