These are beautiful, thanks for posting! I would echo all the comments about the gritty painting style; yes, it reminds me of Rick Scollins too, or perhaps Ronald Embleton.

I too have been disappointed with Victrix switching from boxes to bags. I know it's cost related, but the comment about a first class product in second class packaging is spot on.

When I received this order, I noticed that a few of the standards were slightly cracked, I am surprised with the postal orders they don't put some bubble wrap around each bag which should avoid this problem.
The figures are excellent and definitely a major improvement on the older Warlord's version. I am Not sure what to do with my Warlord Legionaries as they do look small compared to these boys.

Yet another legionary:

I am planning to finish the first century over the weekend but I've ordered another sprue from eBay to try out some conversions  :D

I certainly will buy some of Warlord's plastic scorpions and man them with a Victrix crew. The fighting stance figures should with a little bit of tweaking be well suited for this. Eventually Victrix will make their own war machines I like to think..

Cheers

Airfix, to whom Victrix makes at least a passing nod in terms of branding and logo, learned that the cardboard box was a better packaging medium than the polythene bag sometime around the late 1960s or early 1970s. Whilst it is true that many of the kits in that packaging have become collectors items, it always was a shit way to package fragile plastic bits.

Maybe they can  complete the trip down memory lane by going through a phase of packaging in a cardboard backed blister before returning to a cardboard box?  :)

Great looking Romans. both in painting and sculpts. Really puts my Warlord Romans to shame. Can't wait to see more!

More cool stuff! :-*

I like the standard bearer - the dull metal effect is much better than shining metal.
