What guns did these fellows use as part of Asia Korps???

Two batteries of mountain howitzers (Skoda 75mm or 100mm guns) served in Palestine forming the Gebirgshaubitzdivision von Marno. 800 men in all. A battery of 15cm howitzers and a battery of 24cm "morser" (siege howitzer) and it's motorised transport were present at Gallipoli although I am not sure they then transferred to Palestine.  Not part of German Asia Corps, Steve. I believe they were designated as the Orientkorps.

Steven
much more Info in the great site "German colonial uniforms" where you can find dedicated topics on all involvements of the german armies. There are sections for the Austrohungarian Involvement in Palestine (and others, too) as well.

General link:
http://www.germancolonialuniforms.co.uk/

In addition to the german colonials, there are sections for Asia Korps, Austrohungarians and even turkish Forces . Use the front page for navigation.

Asia korps, Pasha II, is listed as having some Austrian mountain batteries attached:

Mountain Howitzer Battery No. 1/4 &  No. 2/6. Unless these were actually German???

According to the recommended site there were austro-hungarian batteries in Palestine aiding the Turks.

So, Steven, you need to paint some Austrians in pike-grey to add more colour to your armies!!!!

These are they.... twelve guns in two batteries... Hungarians all! Described in some places as "heavy mountain batteries".

If this is the OOB from Wiki than I think it is somewhat misleading. The Austro-Hungarian troops were under command of their own k.u.k Lt. General in Palestine and not part of Pasha I or II as these were German formations. These gunners had been in Palestine since 1916 and fought in Sinai, Gaza I, Gaza II and Gaza III attached to Turkish higher formations long before Pasha II entred theatre. As specialists I believe they were attched to formations on an ad-hoc basis eg at "The Affair at Huj" the Warwicks and Worcs Yeomanry charged a rearguard of 300 Ottoman infantry, four MGs and three batteries of guns, one Turkish, one German and one Austrian (one of the mountain gun batteries). Nickpicking on my part, Steve..... get 'em on the table with the Asia Korps but I don't know who produces a Skoda 75mm or 100mm Gebirgshaubitze. Interesting gun the 100mm.... the trail breaks into two parts when deployed.

I made one for Hinterland miniatures . I've no idea if or when Jason intends on releasing it. (Before anyone goes 'Hinterland are a bit to small' its actually spot on for 28mm as its part of Jason's rescaling programme (to work with both original and projected figures)) .
It's worth dropping him a line too see if he's releasing it soon.

Mark.

Oh yes!!!!
Basic early war K.u. k uniform with soft cap or sun helmet will do but no pike grey. Tropical sandy uniforms all the way.

Nothing wrong with the Wiki orbat with the exception of the reference to Austrian gunners as being part of the formation.

Hello,

I see some one was asking about the Asien Korps. Many years ago I submitted some information. Please see below link. Thank you.
