« on: March 06, 2009, 01:37:13 PM »

Some of Black Hat minis Centaurs, same deal as with the goblins, nice minis these I like em alot.

and

Shock horror, something I've painted for myself, lol.
Couple of Olleys Armies oop Hellsbile Dwarves.
(thats what it sadi on the bases, honest guv)
Just rebased em by cutting a hole in a solid non slotta base the size of the integral base and filling the gaps and underneath with Magisculpt putty.

Very nice.  I especially like the Dwarves.  I've never managed to get very convincing looking grey streaks in hair.

Now that is "suffering for the hobby*". Especially the poor person forming the "horse posterior". lol

I really like the fur effect on the dwarves. Any tips on how you did it so nicely??? Thanks in advance.

Thanks

I chose a base colour, Desert Yellow I think this one was, and washed it all over with Gryphonne Sepia, and then layered from the top leaving a little of the under colour showing on each layer, starting with Ogryn Flesh then Delvan Mud and Badab Black washes, just teasing each one out a little on each layer.
Then to finish off I used Bleached Bone followed by Skull white around the bottom edges.

This works well with greys as well as light tans.
Hope this makes sense, lol.

Yet another big thumbs up for the fur and hair on the Dwarves. I need to use the "grey streak in the beard" effect on a couple of my Sikh veteran NCOs. You've made it look very simple, so no doubt I'll struggle to get a decent finish  lol

Their basing is very effective too!

I am a huge fan of Bob Olley's work, and I really like seeing his figures painted so well! Good work!

I'm thinking of selling on all of my old GW dwarves to fund several Song of Blades and Heroes forces. I have heard great things about it and the GW dwarves don't really 'do it' for me as much as Bob Olley's.

As I said, looks great, love the centaurs but those Dwarves look bloody excellent.  :)
