New Shieldmaidens from Bad Squiddo Games!
« on: April 08, 2017, 04:26:30 PM »
Hello! Part of the Salute releases this year is a big wave of shieldmaidens. Really happy with these.

First up... Lathgertha on horseback and foot!

And she needs some mounted warriors to accompany her right.... hand picked loyal ladies?

But what about when times get really tough and you need the heavy hitters?
(days away from a stunning paint job, but metal will do for now!!)

Foot help is also handy. So there are now archers, as well as some heck dang angry civilians defending the town that all the "cooler" women rode out of on horseback. Gotta defend the homes too!

And even when it all goes tits up and we lose.....

REVENGE IN DEATH!

They're all up for pre order now for either collection at Salute or shipping worldwide the week after.

Credits and thanks!
Mounted shieldmaidens and Lathgertha - sculpted by Alan Marsh, painted by Darren Linington
Archers - sculpted AND painted by John Morris
Villagers - sculpted by Martin Baker, painted by John Morris
Zombies - sculpted by Phil Hynes, painted by Cubster!

Cheers all! really proud with how all these have come on! Even more in the works already :)

They are all very nice, but those civilians are on my must buy list too.

Bad Squiddo has been on fire lately, these are very cool.

I'm a reasonable horseman, or used to be, but I'd hate to try using an axe like that from the saddle. Probably lame my own mount.

Nice sculps. Would have liked to see a few in helmets though.

I treated myself to most of a day off yesterday before the full blown Salute screaming starts, and I painted a zombie!

Though I love Cubbin's dark style, I am crap at it, so my undead are very bright, almost cartoony. They're all on meadow bases because... I like the flower tufts! So I decided heck, why can't the undead rise up in a lovely meadow.

I am indeed biased, but she was a real joy to paint! Excited to do the rest. After Salute though, I have no life until after then  8)

The mounted troops, are those axes loose weapons or come they attached with their hand/arms, as you did with the original Shieldmaidens? Loose will be more easy to make them into spear armed warriors...

Loose! I reckon the Fireforge plastic spears will work great, not tried them yet, but seem to be the right size, and I prefer plastic or the strong wire over cast up spears for less bendage...

Great news, thanks!  :)
Fireforge spears work very good indeed, they look good, sturdy and not too big, althoug I prefer to trim down their javelins a bit...
