I see why.  It's fun to look at buildings around for inspiration.

the snow  is normal for Winnipeg.

My kids love it anyways!

Haven't had much time for painting and building, but I've taken photos of my terrain with some minis.

Also: my wife has been taking pictures with some of my sons toys as well...

Low quality picture, but at least some painted minis with painted terrain!

My wife got some cars for my son, sent me some pictures...

Can you see which of my buildings got inspired by this picture?

It looks like your son is going to have to keep an eye on his cars or they might get repainted ^__^.

Nice look to the buildings.

Gun for hire: Babak Madjan, former Chief Security Officer of battleship Baron Kode in the Utsow Navy.

Madjan fought in the third (and last) Unity-Utsow war. When Baron Kode was boarded by Unity troops, Madjan purposely breached the reactor core containment system to initiate a major meltdown. While the battleship went down in flames, Madjan left in an escape pod.
Madjan's pod was hit by debris, which disabled the pod's tracker and left him floating in cryostasis for 150 years. Saved by junkers, Madjan woke up to find the Utsow Empire a new member of Unity.

Now stranded on the galactic fringe with nowhere to go, Madjan sells his skills to the highest bidder...

Nice paint scheme, that sculpt is pure Star Wars in my eyes.  Great work!

Thanks!

It's an old mini (sometimes when you haven't got enough time to paint, one can always dig up some old stuff),  I boosted the paintscheme from Spacejacker [link].

I concur - the sculpt is pure Star Wars, I love it!

Lovely job! Sorry, chatting so much on Instagram recently I haven’t commented here for ages.

He looks great - I love Bounty Hunters, it’s my favourite theme!

Cool figure and nicely painted, is he a Khurasan one?

Love the terrain too and the sinister sentient cars, no doubt seeking vengence on their meat-bag overlords.

Thanks, Jagannath!

I do like your comments, on whatever platform they might be sent. Bounty Hunters are cool, my own favorite theme might be explorers/tech archaeologists.

Thanks Grumbledook!

It's a Khurasan mini, alright. From a set of alien bounty hunters, I think.

I'm very happy with my terrain as well, a short while I thought about buying a set of cars to repaint, but the style and quality wasn't appropriate.

---

I'm working on two different things right now:
1. Writing new stories to old miniatures/pictures previously posted on Instagram, but not here.
2. Painting a new crew for 5 Parsecs from Home (1ed), led by a scientist searching for truth.

5 parsec would be a great rule system for your terrain.  There is so much in terms of background info for your characters.

- Hello friend! I am Architronics Constructo-/Destructo-bot Mk7! If you want to, you can call me Mark7! I am looking for adventure. Could you please direct me towards adventure?
[Beeps, whistles and warbles]
- I should look for adventure in the cantina? Friend, I am not sure if I understand?
[Whistles, warbles]
- Aha! You mean that there are adventuring groups in the cantina, and that they might be recruiting? Excellent, friend! Thank you very much!
[Beeps, whistles]
- And a good day to you, friend!

The Architronics Constructo-/Destructo-bot Mk7 is based on decommissioned warbots, to be able to carry out construction (or destruction) work in extremely hostile environments. It has been very popular due to its tough exterior, immense strength and it being equipped with built-in blasters, cutters and a chipper attitude.

For centuries, the unit calling itself Mark7 worked in construction on Lukut 3. One day, a power surge hit Mark7 while recharging, corrupting multiple data cores. The bot left its construction job, left the city and started wandering the forests and plains in silence. Years passed and Mark7 started constructing strange contraptions with no apparent purpose on beautiful sites. One stormy night, while constructing yet another contraption, lightning hit the bot, initiating a reboot.
It was like waking up from a dream. Something had changed in Mark7, no longer content with just wandering and constructing, the bot wanted adventure. Far off in a distance, Mark7 saw the lights of a starport. The bot watched in silence for a while, an idea about adventure began to form deep inside the data cores. Mark7 started walking.

I love Five Parsecs from Home's character creation system!

When I'm bored, I roll up a crew or two. Sometimes, when I want to create backstories to specific miniatures, I pick instead of roll if the result doesn't make sense.

My latest posted character, Mark7, is actually based upon an unmodified roll up:

Mark7
34 - Primitive
03 - Peaceful high-tech colony
36 - Adventure
74 - War-bot

I haven't rolled for weapon systems yet, but I think that I will be able to explain most rolls as new uses of built in construction/destruction equipment.

I've been working on my multi-board buildings (buildings without bases, being able to fit on city boards, badlands boards, arctic boards, desert boards, etc.), but now I need some help:

1. I'm going to use yellow as an accent colour, but except for vents, electronics panels and doors, I don't know if, and in that case, how I should add more colour?

2. When it comes to the doors, I've been thinking about using yellow on the frame, but another colour on the door. But what colour? Grey? Light brown/beige? White? Another yellow?

3. What should I do with the panels on the doors? Paint them as windows? Just as a raised area on the door? A place for text/warnings?

I'm a bit inspired by old Command and Conquer games, GDI buildings.

I'm going to use the yellow colour painted on the top panel of the radar base.

I went the same way for my terrain. Mostly drybrush different layers of gray and small colorful accents. My experience: keep the color limited. You can use it for vents, windows, chimneys, in few cases where it seems easily paintable also a "frame" around the building.
Otherwise it gets too messy and unfocussed.

I would agree with the limited paint scheme, although your colorful buildings are really awesome!  A few accents here and there will help break up the grey.

I like orange doors, but a rusty yellow might look cool too.

You could use a rusty wash on the bottom to add some depth, or some posters too.  What about some lettering or numbers?
