Oh, no, his kids are forced to reenact scenes from the movie Saw with their Moomins. The next terrain update will be a basement with blood stains and a metal pipe with a set of handcuffs locked to it :(

Poor parenting, but I don't say anything because I think he makes great terrain.   :?

Just kidding. Well, about the kids being forced to reenact horror films. The terrain really is top notch!  :D

Thanks, friends!

I've been a bit slow on replying lately, action at work and my kids have been waking me up every single night for a couple of weeks are the main reasons.

Today I took a day off, since I had a cancellation (should have held a seminar for HR the entire day). I used the day responibly: cooked bolognese, did some laundry, watched crazy ex-girlfriend, made lunch for my wife, played some XCOM 2 and built some terrain: eight bases filled with ruins!

Can't decide if I'll make them overgrown (like the Last of Us) or radiated wasteland...

Oh, I'm quite excited to see the ruins. If you did half and half, do you think they wouldn't match well? I have ruins that are both overgrown, and then ruins that have no growth and they work well together, I think.

..., watched crazy ex-girlfriend, ...

I do that sometimes too, but the restraining order makes binoculars a necessity  ;)

Watching the Ex-girlfriend!?  ??? Okay that sounds interesting, I think  :? You can PM me later with the juciy details later  lol. I'm sure if I was to watch my Ex, two things would happen (1) a Restraining Order  ::) (2) many many nights of sleeping on the couch!!  :( So moving right along.

Love to see the terrain Half and Half sounds like they would work well together, If they don't make more of each!  :D

Okay friends, let's all get our minds out of the gutter. To call someone a crazy ex-girlfriend is a sexist term, as the show itself notes. I'm talking about the musical comedy series featuring Rachel Bloom:

crazy-ex by Oscar Falk, on Flickr

I enjoy having some kind of show or movie on when I'm building and painting, but I have a couple of criteria:

It has to be known to me and seen before, since I can't focus on whatever happens in a new show.
It can't rely on visuals, since I won't see much of it (I remember trying to paint to Dexter (or CSI), where you hear a "enhance visuals"-sound, and if you didn't look, you wouldn't get the episode).
It has to have a fair amount of (enjoyable) dialogue, in a language I can understand.

When it comes to movies, I like to put on Ocean's 11, the Matrix triology, Dirty Dancing, Back to the Future, Easy A, Starship Troopers, Mean Girls, Star Wars, the Hunger Games, Indiana Jones or the Bourne movies.

When it comes to shows, my go tos are: Crazy Ex-girlfriend, The Get Down, 30 Rock and The Wire.

Anyway: I do not have any crazy exes (they are all doing fine, I wish them the best of luck in life), I believe that those who claim to have crazy exes in general are part in making them crazy (or that the "crazy" is a normal reaction on whatever that person did(of course, there are crazy exes(but not in the extent that some people claim))). I was just watching a show about love, mental health issues, impossible standards and music.

During my watching, I built this:

Did you use cork to make the walls?  Thanks.

Did you use cork to make the walls?

It is 4mm cork, sold in 150x150mm squares.

There are certainly crazy ex's!!!  >:(

Sadly, I'm usually the one filling that role lol

Ok, back on target.... Awesome terrain!!! So these are 15mm scaled? Do you do work in any other scales? Moomins aside, of course.

Thanks, mate! They are 15mm scaled, each floor is 4 cm and each window 2x1 cm.

Nowadays, everything I build or paint is 15mm, except for some miniatures for boardgames (like Mansions of Madness). I've got some Resident Evil dungeon terrain that I built 15 years ago, a 20 year old Mordheim warband and a regiment box of Imperial Guard for 40K that never will be painted or built.

I find 15mm being superior, it takes a modest amount of space, the models look awesome, it's easy to build epic terrain and I can switch projects within my 15mm project, and still have stuff that can be used with my other 15mm projects, if you get what I mean (a hill will be a hill, whether it's a fantasy hill or a sci-fi one, a ruin can be a ruin in a post apocalyptic world as well as in a sci-fi setting).

I follow.

I think that if I had started in 15mm, I would have gladly forever stayed there. At this point I have about ten times as much terrain in 28mm as 15mm, so I can't see giving it up. Maybe, one day, I'll completely switch over.

Space saving alone makes it almost worth chucking hundreds of dollars worth of miniatures and terrain and starting over from scratch. My 28mm terrain takes up about 1/4 of my basement. On the other hand, the sum total of ALL of my 15mm terrain fits in two moderately sized boxes. Though, I suppose, I set forth on my 15mm terrain with the idea that it had to be compact and easily storable. I never really had that attitude when I started my 28mm terrain building. At the time it seemed that I had more space than I could fill  ::)

I'm definitely onboard with no new genres in 28mm. Post apoc is it. Fantasy and sci-fi are both 15mm. I could see going smaller if I was going to start playing with mechs or tanks.

Those ruins look great so far and would work for a number of different games, can't wait to see them finished!

I myself have nothing but 15mm, Sci-fi is my main area, followed by Zombies, I wish to expand more on my Pulp, Post Apoc, and fantasy, Nordic Weasel has solo rules for all of them, that I will have to get those rules as well, I have lots of other rules for groups for when we lived in the cities, way out here in the country not so much  :'(

Love the Moomin Pictures frames Ockman  :) Furniture is an oft overlooked part of Mini gaming!

Look forward to seeing how the ruins turn out. That's something I need to look into, all my buildings so far are still... habitable  lol
