10mm have the advantage that you can field massed armies on the table and even have enough space for maneuvering. I've painted a vast number of ACW 10mm figures and we have enjoyed big battles at corps level. Perhaps, you may focus on the main battle (Kahlemberg) and let a small portion of the Vienna defenses (a bastion and some walls) at the edge of the long side of the table.

No we will definitely do the full battle, we always do the full battle, but we are doing it for us to play and not for any kind of public display or photos. So the terrain doesn't need to be fantastic, functional is fine.

Incidentally we played Parkany which was a battle shortly after Vienna a few weeks ago. We did a couple of battles set in 1711 against Russians and Peterwardien, 1717 in recent times. We have plans to do various other Ottoman battles in this era. Next will be St Gotthard and Leva from 1664.

I would like to share with you this picture.
Kara Mustafa used to sit in his command tent from where he could have a view of the whole operations.
This inspired me to make this tent, where we can see the scribe's desk with an unfinished letter (in Arabic), an Ottoman nobleman's armor and arms, divan, pillows, etc all researched from sources showing items of the period. Papercraft.

Amazing stuff, thanks for sharing! I pretty much live on Kahlenberg, so it's twice as interesting. And of course the 2nd siege of vienna and all the stuff thereafter was quite a pivotal moment in European history. Looking forward to seeing more!

I'm happy you liked it! If you ever play Vienna in 10mm, please notify me, as I'm a fan of this scale, having painted over 2000 10mm figures for our ACW battles...

Just saw them! Both Khurasan and By Fire and Sword are awsome! These are in 15mm of course.
