Chaps,
Thanks for the comments.

Dinthedin, I like the way you have thought that through, and it gives us other avenues to explore, without painting tons more figures (nice).

Leigh, thanks for the comment on the way we deployed the rules, but come on old boy, it's only a bit of fun.
I agree that the novelty will wear off, but that's the same with everything.

The trees were bought from a company called "The last valley" in the U.K.
The firm itself is at most major U.K. shows, but doesnt have a website.
In fact the stand sells out really quickly of trees and other scenic items, even before the doors open, as most demo game organisers want this companies trees on their tables, so it is the norm to turn up as the doors open, and half their stock has already gone  :o
The little orchard trees are some old commercially available ones for railways, that I bought in the US a few years ago, and rebated just reciently.
Hope this helps.

I'm very glad if any of my comments helped... As you play more and more, you may shift from simple table setups to scenarios, not only those written in the book, but also of your own device. The point is to create scenarios which may award you honor by accomplishing some tasks, this may offer you extra motivation and fun! One kind of interesting scenarios may be what I call "you can't protect three pieces of cake with only two hands". I mean a setup with multiple tasks, which, given the limited time and resources you can't accomplish all.
If you didn't happen to throw a look, here is a Pikeman's Lament scenario we played and we had great fun, it may throw some more ideas on the table.

As long as, as Din suggests, you start and then keep inventing new, interesting skirmish (in the military sense) scenarios there should be no problem maintaining the novelty. Happy lamenting  :).

I've heard of The Last Valley, but as a Canadian on the far left-hand side of Canada, there's a continent and an ocean between me and the possibility of getting to a UK show where they might (perhaps...) not be sold out of their very nice trees!

Fascinating that they don't even have a basic website, it being 2017 and all, but clearly they're already reaching their target market and are as popular as they need to be!

Good advice on skirmish scenarios vs set-piece battles, Dinthedin and Leigh. I like the look of the scenarios included in Pikeman's Lament and want to try them out as soon as possible, myself.

I've heard they used to have a web site, but I think they had problems, so dropped the idea.
As you say, they must be happy with the money they bring in at the shows.
I think they are a one man band if you know what I mean.

From looking at the trees, they use horse hair, twigs from the garden and they look very effective indeed.

Hi there,
I was enjoying our conversation and I'm really very, very sorry about the Photobucket issue.
I understand that many fellows have lost access to their pictures and are now benumbed.
Waiting to hear from you soon, if you open a new PL thread, please inform.

Wishing you all the best,
Dinos

As we are about the same level of rules learning, it is good not to lose momentum and continue sharing thoughts and interesting points. I am preparing a new PL scenario to be played hopefuly on Saturday, I'll post as soon as it happens.
Keep up Pike Lamenting  :)
