You may have noticed a huge No! near the Pirate's Close Order Special: Indeed, I think that pirates would never use close order, being afraid of catching barnacles, seaweeds and other harmful bacteria  lol

For the shot groups of the City Guards, let's retain the benefit of the doubt. Although we are in the bayonet period, I think it would be not wise to adopt close order, as both Attack and Move will become 6+ and they have to move over fences with half move, losing their close order. But it is up to the player to choose.

Pirate Captain's Assault Group is upgraded to Aggressive: No shooting, Attack value 3+, Stamina 4, ready for a headlong charge!

The Raid of San Padolfo

Key to the map:
A5: Seashore battery A3-4:Pier A1-A2-B1-B2: Fort hill C5:Cemetery D5:Church D3:Town Square D1:Prison Tower
 C1-C2-C4-E1-E2-E4:Houses E5-F5:Rocky Hill F5:Redoubt F2-F4-F5:City Walls F3:City Gate G2-G4-G5:Forest

The City Defenders deploy first, as following: Only one group will be deployed at the city walls and the rest will be sleeping in the houses, they are activated with 7+. The Angry Citizens, activated with an 8+ muster at the Town Square. They city defenders write down and keep the deployment of their gun secret, until all pirate forces have been deployed. It can be set at one of the three places marked with a cannon marker. The gun may be turned to the city and its range is up to the town square. They must take advantage of their shooting ability and wait for the pirates behind the fences (cover, adds +1 stamina). They lose half move to pass the fences. Also, the city walls are low (+1 stamina)

The Pirates deploy at the Green area, East of the Town. Their brig, the Black Raven is patrolling at the edge of the blue (sea) squares. It moves up to 12’’ with 6+. It may disembark up to two groups at any of the squares A1-2-3-4 and B1. The groups disembark with launches, moving 6’’ with 6+ and disembark with 6+ at half move. They have only one gun group. It can be either brought at G3 to bring down the gate with 12 4+ hits, or it may be mounted on the Black Raven to shoot at the town. The spaces are relatively open, so it can shoot up to the town square. The pirates from the forest, carry ladders and may attempt to scale the walls with half move at 7+. If their cannon enters the city, it may move only on the roads. The cannon crew may abandon the cannon, but then they play as 6 Clubmen (half strength-throw six dies). The fleet-footed pirate groups pass over the fences and the rocky hill with no move penalty.

Special Orders Both opponents may choose any three of the 2- and 1- point special orders.

Mission The games master sets randomly 6 markers with a hidden number, at any of the house yards or the cemetery. (Red markers shown randomly put in the map). They represent honor points which the pirates may pillage. Each pirate group may carry only one marker and the honor points are considered won when the group exits the map (from the forest or the sea). If a group routs, must abandon its marker.  The markers are numbered as follows:  Two markers with 0: no honor, it’s unworthy. One marker each with 1, 2 and 3 : One, two, three  honor points. One marker with 4: Burn the traitor’s house! The pirates try to burn the traitor’s house with 8+, after this the square becomes impassable. They gain one honor point. If this marker fell by chance at the cemetery, with 8+ they find a treasure worthy 3 honor points! Finally, their former captain is imprisoned at the prison tower (D1). If they touch the tower, they can take him with them, he acts as an additional hero! (Only for a group with no hero or the captain’s). The city defenders must prevent the pirates from fulfilling their tasks. For each round that 5 groups have remained in total on the table, the player whose round is throws a die and if it is equal or less than the groups left, the game ends.

To win the game The pirates collect honor points from the pillage or burning the traitor’s house, honor points of the value of each enemy  group routed or eliminated  plus 3 honor points if they free their old captain. The city defenders win honor points for each counter unmoved or abandoned in the city and honor points of the value of each pirate group routed or eliminated. Both opponents win (or lose) points from the special orders they chose.

At last!
Came the day for our long-awaited game!
Here are the first pictures, showing all my pirate town together.
I'm still trying to sort Miltiades' and Haris' pictures with mine, so that to narrate in entities what happened on table.
Let me present you the Town of san Padolfo (before the battle)

Here is the statue of the pious San Padolfo, patron Saint of the town in the middle of the square (with the same name-of course)
This beautiful square was created by Miltiades.
At the background you can see the gate and the walls guarding the town from the East.

The raid of San Padolfo with Pikeman's Lament rules

While most of the groups of the defenders were sleeping in the townhouses, the pirates were sneaking their way through the forest in front of the walls... The scenario obliged the defenders to deploy only one group of city guards on the walls, while the pirates could make a two-pronged attack, disembarking some groups at the seaside (West).
Please, have a look at Orders of Battle and City Plan, at the top of this page.
The pirates deployed in the forest: The Captains Assault Group (Forlorn Hope-Aggressive), Two groups of Bloodthirsty Looters (Clansmen), One group of Pirates with boarding pikes and cutlasses (Pike) One group of Skirmishing Pirates (Detached Shot) and decided not to have their Gun group (Regimental Gun) on their brig, but to deploy it in front of the Town Gate.
They also had two launches with which they could disembark one group of Clansmen (with a hero) and one group of Pikes.
The City Defenders had secretly decided to deploy their own Gun group (also playing as Regimental Gun under the rules) on the Fort Hill (opposite side of the town), looking at the sea. (This obliged the pirate brig -The Black Raven- to keep at bay, so it did no play a role in the game - besides this, it had not enough firepower to entangle herself in a gun duel with the fort).

Assaulting the Walls

The Pirates, starting first, received a nasty surprise! Trying to activate their Detached Shot group to shoot at the City Guards on the walls, they brought Double One! Snake Eyes! Then, they brought a 3... Looking at the Events Table, they had to retreat half move (The only figures with muskets, shown here intermingled with other groups. Phew! Worse things could happen! But they lost their turn... As the game was two players vs two, the pirate from the seaside tried to activate his launches so as to disembark his troops.
