It's always delightful to see a bunch of merciless cutthroats raiding a beautiful and peaceful coastal village!  :D

I agree 100% with Malamute: hats are crucial for Pirate action!  ;)

By the way, please have a look at a building I had made a few years ago...
Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates. – Mark Twain, Life on the Mississippi

The right-hand Pirate landing party

Why the sea hill fort gunners try to swerve their gun?
Why is the Governor's guard rushing to the direction of the rocky hill?

Haris (Guldor) playing the pirate landings, had a devious plan!
A group of bloodthirsty looters has disembarked at the foot of the hill, under the very nose of the gunners!

(Thanks Miltiades for the excellent pic!)

The confrontation!
The Governor's Guard, is the most precious unit! Forlorn Hope, stamina 3, vs a group classed as Clansmen with a Hero! Who will attack first?
The Governor fails to activate an attack while the pirates are off balance, disembarking...
The pirates attack first, they make 10! hits causing 3 casualties to the Governor's Guard, who fall back...
But their morale check after receiving two casualties is not good and they fall back in their boat...

The Governor's group having fallen half strength and seeing the pirates retreating wavering, leaves to bolster some other of his troops in danger at the center of the town.
But the pirates manage recover and disembark again! Looting is waiting next corner! (The amber marker).
The marker revealed, is a big zero! No honor points!

In their rage, they make a Wild Charge to a group of Town Guards already wavering and annihilate them!

In their turn, the hill fort gunners manage (at last) to send a successful shot against them and the Pirates are also routed!

Every tale is better with an inn with the right name!  lol

BTW: great AAR, thank you very much for sharing!  ;)

What rules did you use?

Thank you! The AAR is to be continued!

The rules are The Pikeman's Lament (TPL), Daniel Mersey & Michael Leck, published 2017 by Osprey.
They are skirmish rules, mainly for Pike and Shot period, but they may be easily used for other periods up to the Great Northern War (and beyond).

I haven't seen somebody else using it for a pirate game, but it was my weird idea to create such a scenario and we had much, much fun!

Back at page 9, you may find the Order of Battle, the Map and the Scenario.
It was the third time we played and, although I had only read the rules, it was very easy for the other four fellows to follow and play an enjoyable game, which kept us in suspense until the end!

Great job on the terrain. I appreciate seeing how you adapted the rules to pirate warfare. I might just paint up some pirates for my collection.  Can't wait to see another report.

I'm always filled with enthusiasm, either when I play or when I see others play pirates!
'tis jolly to be a pirate paintARRR!!!
The report isn't finished yet!
We continue! Stay tuned!

The fight for the center of the Town

While some groups of the defenders failed to muster, the Angry Citizens (Clubmen), bolstered by an Agitator, reply promptly to a call to arms!
They start gathering around the Square...

One group of City Guards who were the first to defend the walls and a group of Militia have been beaten and retreat (they never recovered)
