That looks an epic game.  Love the combination of sizes for the mammoth herds and the overall look of the game.  Very very good.

Appreciate the feedback, thanks.

Here's some random close ups. The bases are color coded using flowers to match a cow with her calf. This helps during the game, as I have some tweaks for mothers reacting to immediate/direct danger to their calves.

And now a couple of shots of the baby mammoth.

Before and after. Head was cut and repositioned, adult tusks cut/stunted, and greenstuff added to reshape body to make it look less like an adult. I was pleased with result.

And now the youngsters...

What a wonderful set up.
The table looks great and your collection of beasties is superb.
 :-* :-*

Many thanks for all the info regarding the critturs as I have gotten myself a copy of Palaeo Diet, which looks like a fun game, and intend to start my own collection once my OGAM stuff is done.
I shall be referring back here for reference and inspiration, that is for sure!

An impressive herd when seen close together, it looks good and the sizes work well as does the fact that you have differing manufacturers figures mixed in harmoniously.
I like the flower idea and the mother calf relationship having an impact on the game mechanics.
Thanks for the post

This is one of my projects that actually turned out better than what I thought it might be when I first had thoughts of doing some Ice Age gaming. It helps to have a variety of resources to work with.

Here's some more animals.

Woolly Rhino and Elasmothrium:

Megaloceros:

Miscellaneous beasts:

Buffalo, Bison, Horses, Cave Bears, Saber Tooth, Cave Lions, Wolves, and Hyenas

No worries... "adopting" techniques is a huge part of why I hang out here on LAF. Way too many cool ideas which eventually impact my wallet and available storage space...  :o

Wow, those are some big Woollies...  :)

I have the 1st, 2nd and 5th from front row.

Which reminds me I need to post a pic of the Safari Ltd models next to humans for scale comparison.

I'll 2nd that WOW!!!

Dynohunter - you are the man o_o o_o

pacarat - an amazing collection, I don't suppose you would have the time to label the animals with the manufacturers?

That would be really helpful.

Originally I was thinking this would just be an inexpensive side show but the more I see the better it gets. Oh and also the more expensive it gets as well :'( :'(

These are terrific. Currently trying to resist the temptation to produce pre-historic vegetation, and these don't help!

Ha! I think we are all susceptible to a variety of rabbit holes...

Happy to share and see the comments coming back.
For the assorted mammals shown above:

Woolly Rhinos: Deezee Miniatures and Acheson Creations (metal and resin)
Elasmotherium: Deezee Miniatures (metal)
Megaloceros: Acheson Creations (metal two poses available)
Black (water) buffaloes: Mojo Minis (plastic)
Bison: Old Glory (metal)
Horses: Mojo Minis (plastic)
Dire Wolves: North Star? (not sure) (metal)
Cats: Reaper, Iron Wind, Ral Partha (metal)
Hyenas: Iron Wind (I think) (metal)

For big cats, wolves, and hyenas, there are a variety of sources - too many to list.
Acheson is only one that does the Megaloceros (that I know of)
For Bison there are also several sources.
Horses - could use a zebra model, but modern zebras are smaller then Pleistocene horses. I like the Mojo Minis Zebras repainted as horses, they are a bit larger than a 28mm horse, and fits my impression of that ice age species. (Got to have that stiff mane, so modern horses will not work.)

So looking at additional / eligible animals:

Aurochs -  Eureka has a nice family set (bull, cow and calf) -  I have a couple sets in the pain queue.
Giant Sloth - Toobs does one, but is smallish, so would work as a juvenile. Reaper I think is doing one on the current Bones KS.
Reindeer - I just picked up some of Eureka's models

That's all I can think of at the moment, I probably have more stuff in my Ice Age animals box.
