Captain Makepeace's Daring Rescue - *NEW* Big Men cards 21/12/12
« on: December 17, 2012, 08:28:19 AM »
We are trying to kick off a Sharp Practice campaign set in a fictitious 18th century India (Indostan) the likes of which we have toyed with in the past.

In the new year we hope to play semi-regularly and keep this thing going, although even this first game hit a glitch when a player cancelled on the day.

Luckily Christian was happy to play on regardless and it proved a great opportunity for him to learn Sharp Practice.

This game was thrown together after a couple of hours thought, but turned out to be one of the best games of SP I've ever played. Fast, fun and action packed.

I have written an extensive battle report on the blog http://adventuresinlead.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/captain-makepeaces-daring-rescue.html which has taken some time and haven't got the time or heart to repeat in full here. So please take the time to go have a look.

A picture tells a thousand words, so, some pictures follow with a lot more on the blog. Enjoy.

Bloody brilliant :-*

The whole set up is looking terrifc, I love all the extra details, like the scenic clutter and the livestock, they really bringt he table to life :-*

Glad to see you back in the game with Sharp Practice, as you know you were inspirational in me using SP for my Tex/Mex games. :)

I will look forward to seeing the campaign as it plays out in the New Year. :)

Looks great! It's nice to see colonial games played in the 18th Century rather than the 19th which tends to be predominant.

The boats are from http://www.gamesofwar.net/acatalog/Pirate_Supplies_Store.html

They are called "Tender - The Sea Pup" and are nicely sculpted and good value

A very interesting battle report and some great photos. I also like the Sharpe Practice rules, especially the rules for shooting and close combat.

A really great looking game and report.
Looks to me like the goats could be the heroes.

Well, it was bloody good fun. A really smooth system, if anyone is considering playing it. Really easy for a complete novice (me) to pick up.

Hats off to Frank for putting the whole thing together. Marvelous job, old boy.

Can't wait for the next one, that's for sure.

For anyone interested these I made these Big Men cards for use in the game. They may serve as inspiration for anyone running their own Sharp Practice games.

They are downloadable in PDF here http://www.mediafire.com/view/?pgp6tnl3p3gd3al

Great stuff. ;D

Nice idea to have the levels and the fluff on the cards. Wish I had thought of that when I did all my cards ::)

Thanks Nick - it does help a lot and lets the players remember the personality they are playing.  :)

I assume you don't use Sharp Practice for your own Mexico/Zoro games any more (which have been absent lately - what with Mars and all that!).
