A Bridge too Far - 1949
« on: August 04, 2013, 01:35:14 AM »
Here are some pictures of the Secrets of the Third Reich display myself, Benny and another club member put on at the Nunawading Wargames Association Games Day 2013 yesterday (03/08/13).

German Drop Troopers make trouble behind American lines.

German Dhrones have compromised the American Sniper position.

Sir Herbert Shoggoth-Smyth calls upon strange allies for the British.

Oddball, Kelley and Big Joe lead the American counter-attack.

The Doctor arrives to lend a hand.

British Heroes Union Jack, Paddy Mayne and Mad Jack Churchill lead the charge.

American light Mechs and Robots cross the river.

The Allied Bank.

The Russians advance, seeking to take the Northern seas for the glorious Socialist cause!

Cap, Bucky and the Howling Commandos take the fight to the German bank.

The Russians hit the Latverian positions.

Baron Blood strikes!

What foul pact has be wrought?

The British Paratroopers have a little help this time around.

British Air Support.

The odd thing is, no parachutes were spotted before the British Paras started attacking, so where did they come from?  ;)

Arnim Zola's Ubermenchen move in on the Paras.

The world's most "powerful" monarchs battle it out.

German High Command is about to have a bad day.

Mechs and Infantry hold the bridge.

The horde advances.

"Hold the line boys!"

"That'll show 'em!"

The view from the American Bank.

From the Allied side.

From the Axis side.

The bridge too far.

I just kept looking at each subsequent picture thinking "Wait, what!?"  lol

A bit much going on, but it looks like insanity on the tabletop!  :D

But wait, there's more!

The Russian/American line.

The Russian/Latverian line.

To give a sense of scale, the bridge, without the ramps, is about 4' long. A slender adult can stand on it without it breaking.

Myself (on the left) and a couple of fellow NWAers who are working on US armies.

The Latverian positions.

The Axis bank.

Advancing Mechs.

A view of the whole table, with my co-conspirator in the bottom left.

Approaching the Axis bank.

Even the sonic screwdriver can't make the PIAT an effective weapon.

For Britain!

The British "Urizen" class Medium Mech. Assembled in a furniture factory in Working.

WOW :o
Now this is what a Weird War 2 Game should look like!

It is so big and awesome that one of my favorite WW2 German AFVs is just lost in all the Awesomeness!
See if you can find the Sturm Tiger  ;)

Thanks for posting!

That was a great game guys. It certainly whetted my appetite to get my US back on the work bench.

You got my 2nd vote for best table because I the Bushido table a little more (that cloudy mountain top).

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.
