American cars from circa 1949

I'm looking for some models of American cars which might fit into a 28mm scale game, set in 1949. Can any one help me out with some suggestions. (Anything from 1/56 to 1/48 scale is of particular interest, but not 1/43)

Hot wheels has a line of 1/50 scale cars out now.
One of the cars in the line is a chopped 1949 Merc. The one I just saw yesterday in Toys R Us was black with flames and had normal looking rims/tires.

Many of the older cars from the 20's and 30's were still on the road as well so don't forget the Pulp vehicles, just restrict them to Fords, Chevys, Buicks, and Oldsmobiles. Also, wartime vehicles  and military surplus trucks were being sold 2nd hand and were common.

Blue Moon has some nice vehicles. I think they look a little more like 1920s-1930s, but they may still work for you ---

I just remembered, Tamiya does a 1/48 WW2 army staff car that is supposed to be a 1942 Ford.
Painted up in civie colors it should look great.
