Resistance isn't futile
« on: September 03, 2013, 10:28:53 AM »
So it seems like I'm starting Bolt Action. Being the oddball I am I won't start any of the major armies, but will focus on the Danish resistance, and maybe do the German occupiers and the local SS goons.

I'm still waiting for proper bases, but I was so excited so I couldn't stop myself from starting to paint up a few. :)

These may be some of my best models, I'm very happy with the glasses on this one. Contrary to a lot of people I didn't use any blue when painting them...

They look really nice, and great idea with the danish resistance, certainly something unusual!

I've just ordered the same miniatures but I will convert them into some Volkssturm.

Careful with this project. I bought a couple of packs from Artizan just to paint up. I now have 30+ and still have a desire to paint more! Nice start to the project

Thanks guys. :)

Yeah, I've been looking at Artizan for more, and also on a lot of gangster ranges since the Danes didn't really look like either the French or the eastern European resistance groups. I don't think they had any big encampments out in the bush (since there are no bush in Denmark ;) ), it was much more of a secret and urban affair.

@tomek917: Hope you'll post them up when you finish them.

@Wilkins: 30+ painted blisters? Blimey! Any pics or a blog or suchlike?

30 painted miniatures! 30 painted blisters would take me a lifetime; I do not paint quickly.

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=45594.0 That link is to some of the one's I've painted. Still want to add more but need to finish an opponent for them first

Edit: It's 46 miniatures, a jeep and a van so far. Still plan on more!

Here are some more resistance fighters. Some are clearly still in their work clothes. :)

Thanks styx, you should. :)

As there was no Allied invasion of Denmark until after the Germans had given up I may have to invent a more active resistance than they really had to be able to play bigger battles than what did happen, which was more concerned with sabotage and killings of "stikkere"/collaborators. The Danish resistance did get their hands on quite an arsenal though, as can be seen in this picture of a resistance troop which includes a banker with a bazooka:

Here is the first finished group of resistance fighters:

I plan to use these for Bolt Action with the new France and the Allies supplement.

What a great picture!  :-*

That certainly starts your imagination! Love the guy in front row to the left (is he the engineer or the book salesman? Seems like the labeling is the wrong way around...) looking at his weapon and thinking "How do I use this?"  lol

And the first squad turned out great, especially like the unshaven chin of the guy in white! Is he a store clerk or something? A doctor perhaps?

Thank you!
It is a great photo, I love the bankman with the bazooka. The guy you're asking about should be the engineer.

The guy in white is (in my mind) a butcher.

I painted up the model you get for free from Warlord if you buy the rulebook direct from them, the Never Surrender model. I think it will be a fine Liaison Officer for the Danes.
