Deep within China, 1937

Ensign Alex sat sipping his Jack and Coke in his chair aboard the USS Barracuda as Helen Schiffer, archeology student, got cleaned up from her recent ordeal in a pit of Death Sand.
“Chief?” Alex asked. “Is Popeye going to be OK?”
“Sure thing Ensign.” He just took a walloping that’s all.
On cue, Popeye gave a pained groan and opened his eyes from where he lay on deck.
“Where am I?” He asked groggily.
“Aboard the U.S.S. Barracuda, Popeye.” Alex said. “Here.” And he tossed the sailor the can of spinach he had pulled out of the cupboard as soon as they came aboard.
“Alex?” Popeye replied, deftly catching the canned treat.
“Easy there Popeye.” Chief said, “Enjoy your spinach and rest a bit.”
Popeye didn’t need further encouragement and lit into the spinach with gusto. When he was done, he was clearly feeling better. “Why am I aboard Alex?”
“What is the last thing you remember?”
“Well I took me gal Olive on down to Murch’s for a Coke and we ran into some unsavory looking river types. One of them was dressed real fancy and he had funny eyes. Then I’m here.” Then realization suddenly hit. “Where’s Olive?”
“Well she wasn’t with you when you attacked us in the jungle?”
“Attacked you?”
Alex told the full story and as he finished, Helen came up refreshed and in clean clothes. Alex tried to introduce them, but Helen was plainly too excited.
“I know where they are going!” She blurted out.
“Where?” Both Alex and Popeye replied.
Pulling out one of the maps she had in her handbag, she pointed to where she had drawn a big red X with her lipstick. “Right here!”
“Digaolong Island? In Xingzi Lake?”
“Yes!”
“That’s bad country, not just bandits either.” Alex mused. “Why do you think they’re going there.”
“That’s where the runes point to.” Helen insisted. “and there’s an ancient imperial palace on the island according to Marco Polo, but he wasn’t allowed in to see it.”
“Well Popeye, our course would take us past Murch’s if you would like us to drop you off.” Alex said, turning and motioning for Chief to get underway.
“Sound’s good.”

Hmmm, whats that in the back room?

Alex, Helen, Popeye and Sarge head up the path from the river to the trading post.
It's too quiet." Alex says warily as they come into view of the post.
"Whats that on the ground?" Helen asks.

"Bluto?" Popeye exclaims!

As Alex and Helen warily advance,

Popeye rushes to his friends side.

"Bluto! Wake up!" Popeye shouts, shaking his friend. "Where's Olive!"
Bluto wakes up and comes up swinging, a weird gleam in his eyes.

After a fierce exchange of wild punches, Bluto's roundhouse punishes Popeye's chin and Popeye drops stunned!

Meanwhile, sailor Stanley on shore leave, comes to see what the commotion is about.

Before Alex can intervene, Bluto steps up to his fallen friend and savagely beats Popeye senseless!

Shaking off his shock, Alex rushes Bluto, and fists fly as Sarge barks!

Helen rushes over to the fallen Popeye, opening the can of spinach Alex gave here and shoves the green leaves down Popeye's throat!

Popeye bounds up with renewed energy and he and Bluto hammer away at each other again!

But each time Popeye gets in a good blow, Bluto with his weirdly glowing eyes, shakes it off until finally...

Alex rushes in to Popeye's aid only to be...

with a wicked smile, Bluto turns to Helen,

knocks her sensless,

Tosses her over his shoulder and disappears into the jungle.

Sailor Stanley watches in helpless horror the events before him, and then helps Alex and Popeye back to the Barracuda.

Where has Bluto taken Helen?
Where is Olive Oyl?
Have they both been taken to Digaolong Island?
Is Lo fang really on the island?
Why was Marco Pollo not allowed onto the island?
Just what might Lo Fang need two virtuous foreign women for?
Find Out in the thrilling conclusion - The Sacrifice!

Well another exciting and surprising game. This game did not go anywhere near what I had anticipated. There were 4 PEF's in the jungle, behind the post and oil tank, that never moved into view! They were supposed to be the ambush in the form of pirates! But Bluto not only held his own, but he beat down Alex and Popeye twice! I even gave Popeye a home rule advantage of an in game recovery check and a +1 Rep for the spinach [cant game with Popeye and not have a spinach boost]. Whats that about the best laid plans? Bluto's dice were just Hot! Well the bad guys now have not just 1 but 2 lovely damsels. Oh the horror!
Sarge, the star of last game, never got into the fight, mainly because I forgot to ad him in.Thanks for reading.

Cool terrain! I don't think I'd seen the interior of the trading post before. Well done!  :-*

Great report and photos, looks like a very enjoyable game. Popeye's having a bad time of it in this chapter and chapter 3. Perhaps he's getting a bit old for this sort of rough-housing? Is retirement to Granpappy's spinach plantation on the cards?  ;)

Ooooh!

Poor Popeye.

What terrible fate will those ladies face if the heroes are so inept?  ;)   ;D :D

Waithing breathless for the final chapter.

Thanks for sharing.

The cad!  He hit a woman AND knocked the daylights out of Popeye even WITH spinach!  This must be avenged!  Ummmm...sorry...big fan of Popeye as a kid.  I'll go take my medicine now.    :D
