Hello,

For a couple of years I present games at the Hamburger Tactica now. Sometimes in a team but this year I am on my own.

It is end of January and 1 month left to Tactica. The good thing is that I am almost done with my stuff for this years Tactica. The bad thing is that my perfect time schedule gives me room for some more things to build ....Details details details and maybe some more minis ?

This year I will present a collection of World War One games.

When the planning started I only wanted to offer an early war game. A skirmish between Germans and French.

Than I thought - it is the 100th year anniversary of WW1- I should do a Trench game too ! So I first build a 2`  x  2` game board for a trench raid. I painted German and British trench raiders and thought thats it....but I rolled so much sandbags and other material was still on stock so  I decided to build another board for a larger game. The board is 2 x 4` now. I didnt build No Mans Land. It makes no use for a presentation game when one force has to cross No Mans Lands and is shot to pieces. I will let both player jump right into the action.

This is the board I am talking about :

I apologize for the picture. I am really not the greates photographer. But I assure you the miniatures are painted on a pretty high standard and the board is really cool with some details and hidden spots to discover during a game.

Here are some more pics.

The miniatures I use for the whole presentation are Renegade, Great War, Brigade Games and Old Glory Miniatures. I have a fairly large collection of ww1 miniatures. Most of them are painted. Some are unpainted. If I can keep up with the drive I maybe finish painting them all and afterwards I will buy some Cavalry models.

The idea is that the players can freely decide what part of the presentation they like to play. What I need to paint are some Objective markers. This brings me to Sidney Roundwood and his excellent blog. You can find it here :

It is an excellent blog. I know much about ww1 but when it come to game this theatre players need to visit Sidneys blog. It is very inspiring, full of fantastic pictures and knowledge. I could not have done this project - especially the trench stuff - without his blog ! Thank you Sir !

Finally two more pictures :

I will post more pictures later that month and in February.

Thanks for reading

Cheers
Björn

Ok Björn, for trench you have to paint more figures. I think 1000 each side is enough.  lol

Nice table again.

Thank you very much guys !

Nice comments are always encouraging.

There are still some things to do.

Event marker, a few more miniatures ( casualties )  a trench periscope, maybe a sniper hideout a few splintered tree trunks. A flame thrower burst and such things.

I also have a Pfalz DIII on my desk at the moment. I am thinking of using it as a turn marker.

The trench is not 100 % in scale. The trench could have been deeper but I wanted a playing piece not a perfectly build  historical trench. But it is close to the real thing.

Anyway... I will post more pictures soon. The early war French are nice looking !

And thanks again LAFer`s

Cheers
Björn
