Gang War -- a Pulp Alley AAR
« on: September 16, 2014, 09:08:29 PM »
Here are some pics of a fun game Mila and the crew played while testing some of the new scenarios for our fourth Pulp Alley book -- Vice Alley. We're still hoping to have Vice Alley released before the end of the year...

THANKS

Great AAR (as usual!), but what kind of low down, good for nothing fink punches a toddler? I'm shocked, shocked I tells ya.  lol

A beautiful backdrop though. Your buildings are superb!

wonderful scenery!  here are my spontaneous thoughts:

- someone made a popeye/bluto/olive  set,  now that would be a gang!
- I saw a don walking over the street to buy some oranges while his son got the car...
- You have probably already thought about an alternative arrangement of the scenery stock: Use the green grass to make backyards for the houses, some trees, bushes, walls and fences would suffice; move the single house to the other side and make a T-section, You win a street

I am overwhelmed with AM radio nostalgia, David.  ;D

Great AAR, looking forward to the big reveal when Vice Alley goes gold!
Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

The city's looking good so far. Nice idea to use a park as a temporary move until you get more buildings going.

If you want to quickly increase the size of your town, you might be able to quickly cut some out of some paper lace.  ;) ;) ;)

Are those sidewalks the same tile you were using before? If so, how'd you get the irregular edges? And how'd you score the sheet to give you sidewalk blocks?

Okay, I guess I have to be the "Party Pooper".  Pulp Alley is a fun game granted, but a "gang" led by a little girl and including a baby and an old woman just seems really silly to me.  A gang based on the "Bowery Boys" maybe.

I liked it. Well written, fun and presumably with a gang made purely for the enjoyment of the players. More power to your elbow. There's room for all sorts in the Pulp family.

Besides, if I disagree, Sam Slades co-worker Kidd, from the hallowed halls of 2000AD, might fill me full of holes!

One of our group's favourite things about Pulp Alley, is that ANY mini can play a part, steal the show, get some much deserved table-time.

Those "bystander" type sculpts from Pulp Figures are great examples of figures I would never have considered important enough to purchase and paint until I saw their potential through the lens of a Pulp Alley League.

Are the buildings from TVAG? They look great. PA GW may be the way to go for me with Gangsters.

The Mandy stories are intended to be presented from the viewpoint and imagination of a little girl.

So in case it was not clear, the little girl is not really a mob boss, the baby didn't really get beat up, and the old lady didn't really beat up a girl in her underwear. It's just Mandy's imagination. That's why, at the end, you see all the characters that died during the game going about their business on the street.  ;)

I've been having lots of fun playing this league. Silly? Yes, very! And enjoyable.  :D
