Thursday night was a long one. The power went down around eight, luckily after dinner and cleaning the weapons. I made sure the building was locked up tight and settled in, hoping for a quiet night. I hadn't gotten a chance to talk to Gwyn about last night and she went to bed with Becca again. Not wanting to draw attention, I didn't light any of our few candles. I drifted off to sleep to the now all too familiar sounds of distant gunshots and sirens. The smell of breakfast cooking woke me as Gwyn surprised us with the last of the bacon. The power was back, but flickering a lot. The internet and phones were still down as were many TV stations. What was showing was reruns of yesterdays news. Late in the afternoon, Gwyn walked over and handed me her cell phone. A text message had just come thru from her folks saying they were heading to town for supplies and would text when they got home. The message had been sent two days ago and had just now arrived. I knew what she was thinking. I hadn't heard from my folks back in LA since this whole thing started. We tried to entertain Becca but there's only so many times you can play Uno and Monopoly. That's when we heard the crash from outside.

Thor, Gwyn & Becca in Thor's apartment

Limo Occupants - all Rep 3 civilians
Congressman Jamal Jackson - represents Riverton in the TN Legislature, indicted 14 times for corruption, never convicted, has a pistol
Sheerah Jackson - former Riverton Council Woman & Jamal's sister-convicted of bribery, has a pistol
Ginger Webster -Jackson's 1st week on the job Intern & 2nd year PolSci major at Vanderbilt
Peter Smith - Limo Driver, has a pistol

Limo Occupants - all Rep 3 civilians
Roger Blake - Jackson's Chief of Staff
Nancy Whitcock - Justice Department Attorney - visiting Jackson regarding possible local police civil rights violations
F-Bom - Local Upcoming Rapper and convicted felon, personal friend of the Congressman Jackson, has a pistol
Cinnamon Jade -Exotic Dancer -personal friend of F-Bom

Swerving to avoid a drunk staggering in the road, Peter drives the Limo onto a fire hydrant which erupts in a gush of water.
All Limo occupants stunned.

The sound of the crash attracts some unwanted attention.

A zombie is soon banging on the Limo's window.

Quickly joined by more

as a stray dog runs down the street with it's own posse of walkers

We gaze down upon the scene from my corner window [figures on the roof represent them being in Thor's upstairs apartment]

Two strangers appear, pistols in hand [Rep4, the one in hat Rep3] are they here to help?

They shoot 2 of the zeds at the Limo

I drop one with my rifle as the stray keeps running
all the gunfire is attracting more
This is the first I've seen them on my street, this is bad

they drop 2 zombies who charged them

the way to the Limo seems clear

more come

I watch dumbstruck as these two sons of bitches run up and try to rob the Limo
The one in the hat slips in the rushing water, but the other takes the drivers gun
the driver then runs

the stray runs free

the driver doesn't get very far

I shoot at the robber and he slips in the water just as more zeds arrive, they attack and start to feast on the robbers
[red d6 show how long the zeds are occupied with their meal]
a zed on the far side finally bashes thru the window and drags Sheerah out to dine

the Zeds keep coming

the front passenger door opens and out scrambles a skirt
from the back, the Congressman and F-Bom try to get out of the Limo, F-Bom slips in the water

over here I yell

she runs to the front door

the Zeds chow down on the rapper and Congressman

a zed charges Ginger

as the feasting continues

they keep coming

Ginger pushes the zed back down the steps and it tries to rise

the attorney, cowering stunned in the Limo, is dragged out to her doom

I finally get the door unbarred and drag Ginger inside
Stepping out, I cap the grounded Zed as some of his friends join the party

I'm rushed and scramble to keep from being bitten [Thor had left his katana upstairs]
the fight is close

but I am able to finally push them back enough for me to scramble back inside and rebar the door

meanwhile, Cinnamon finally gets out of the Limo but is shocked by what she sees

they keep coming and coming

Cinnamon doesn't see the threat until it's too late

Zeds start banging on the front door as I reload

that poor girl never had a chance

I step up and start to shoot through the door's window

chaos on the street

Ginger makes it upstairs and joins Gwyn and Becca as they watch in horror

the herd, finished with their feast, heads to join the door bangers

its getting crowded out there

The 2x4 I used to bar the door is starting to crack and I know now I can't stop them

I scramble upstairs and tell them it's time to go
We have a minute or so to grab our stuff before the door crashes open
I help Becca out the window as the ladies follow onto the neighboring rooftop and down into a back alley
Gwyn falls and lands hard, injuring her leg. I help her walk as we flee into the late afternoon dusk.

Where do we go?
Abu's Circle K?

A wild game that was loads of fun. The scenario was a mixture of the NG protection scenario from the ATZ Haven book with a Limo given to me by Jake. I just had to game with it, and some fleeing politicians and their lackeys seemed just the thing. I was surprised at the carnage at the Limo. The butchers bill -10dead zeds and 9 dead people, my highest body count so far. The occupants of the Limo were stunned at the begining due to the crash and later due to flubbing the see the feast rolls, and thus easy pickings. I had made a pregame decision not to run them as a group but as 8 individuals all on their own. My victory condition for Thor's group was to rescue at least 1 person and they did. Good thing to for Thor made his roll and is now a Rep5. Gwyn was shooting the rifle a lot after Thor went downstairs but she couldn't hit the broadside of the barn so no rep increase roll for her. She did make the seeing the feast roll OK, as did Ginger, the only one in the Limo to do so. Resulting in Ginger not being stunned when the Limo doors opened for business. I made the keeping it together rolls so Gwyn and Becca wont have to roll again next game, though Ginger will. I hadn't expected Thor's group to be homeless so early, no good deed goes unpunished in the zombie Apocalypse right? They can't even get to Thor's Land Cruiser or to loot the Limo. Hard times ahead.

Thanks for looking and Stay tuned for the next exciting game - Day 7 continued -On The Run!

Glad to see the Limo came in handy!

Great looking table, figures and a(nother) wonderful AAR.

I'm really enjoying these batreps! Where are all the various civvies from? Are some model rail figures?

Thank you for the kind words everyone.

....Where are all the various civvies from? Are some model rail figures?

No.
They're all heroclix civies from the various superhero lines, detached from their clix bases, glues to pennys and maybe touched up maybe not. I picked them up cheap and they're great for all the misc random encounters you have in ATZ. I would love to have painted metal figures for all of them, but I focus my limited painting time on characters, etc.

Entertaining :)

I like the water effect idea, nice touch. I have dozens of Heroclix civilians as well, they're great for inexpensive crowds.
