Pulp Alley AAR: Sinister Swamp
« on: December 12, 2016, 10:02:53 AM »
We played a 4-player PA at our local gaming club last Saturday to inaugurate our new jungle table. Unfortunately we took only a few pictures but it was tremendous fun and a really tough szenario.

A look from above on the playing mat.

Perilous: The river, the swamps, the rocks left and the 3 hallowed grounds (plot points)
Above left: Travis Porters Flight Service (Classic Adventurers)
Above right: The Golden Candle Society (Monk Kung-Fu Fighters)
Below left: Fellowship of the Sun (Evil Cultists)
Below right: Eaters of the Lotus (Evil Sorcerers and Demon Summoners from Ancient China)

In the first turn the Leagues tried to get in reach of the hallowed grounds. The river current proved to be exceptional strong: Both Travis and the Monks lost a member trying to cross it. On the other side the Eaters and the Cultists soon got in trouble with attacking zombies.
In turn 2 or 3 three of the Cultists tried to outflank the zombies and avoid confict with the Eaters by crossing the perilous rocks to the left, but disaster! All three fall in a trap, failed their recovery checks and are out! This leaves the Cultists with only a minor chance to get through the increasing zombie horde.
The Eaters are more lucky and managed to dispatch several zombies (in the end the body count shows more than 20 destroyed zombies!) and get to the hallowed ground, searching successfully for a plot point!
Meanwhile Fong Sai Bo rushes Travis Porter, kicking him to the head, but the experienced brawler shrugs the hit off and retaliates: One wound for the sidekick!

In the next round the gang of initiates rushes Travis, but he makes short work of them: Two hits for the monks, and then it was his turn to attack: Two more hits and the last member of the initiates leaves the battlefield in panic.
In Round five a lonely follower of the eaters manages to slip though the zombies, reach the hallowed ground in front of the Cultists and was able to pick up the plot point the unfortunaty Cultist had dropped. One more plot point for the eaters!
Unfortunately his luck runs out. A bunch of zombies spotted him, rushes and makes short work of the brave Follower.
This creates an opportunity for The Right Hand to place a blast over the zombies: 5 zombies in the blast, all go down! Although it was too late to grab the plot point, it was a kind of success for the Fellowship.

This ends the game, as hundreds of zombies swarm the area and forced all leagues to withdraw.

That table is beautiful.  Now I want a jungle table!  (As if I didn't before):)

Excellent looking table, very unusual.

The stones in the swamp are very effective.  :)

Thanks for all the kind comments.

The "lost city" project was on my list for a long time and I am glad to finally finish it. I still have to do some work on the vegetation, but all in all I am pleased with the result.

I had to admit the mat was originally intended to be completely covered with quarry stone as base for a small city, but I failed....so I switched project to save the map.  ;)
Never waste anything!  :D
