How To: GLASS
« on: January 28, 2012, 04:37:21 PM »
Hi everyone!
Finally, the tutorial is ready, and it is on my site!

It's all about making a better looking glass. the usual transparent film is too perfect, i wanted something more irregular, and realsitic as well.

Well, THAT's the result! Click here for the tutorial!

and that's a little diorama i made for displaying the glass effect!

Cheers,
Jack

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your comments! =)

I've to say that all this is thanks to Faber, who introduced me to the water resin, and helped me a lot on developing all this! :)

Please, if someone will make something out of this, i would LOVE to have some pictures to upload on my site!!!

cheers

Great article :)   I have seen this technique used a number of times but only in one article (massive voodoo)

The more articles on methods out their the better it is for people wishing to learn :)  top job bud.

Whilst they use a toothpick to put the single part clear resin into each "hole" you can just place a piece of mesh onto a flat surface and use your method.

p.s.  if you paint your mesh black first, you won't risk getting paint onto the "glass"

well, yeah! Let's say that they used the water effect for the same purpose... but this method is quite more "industrial", and you can hope to make a whole town! =)

agree also for the painting. Better not to mess wit the transparent stuff!

eheh! you are welcome mate! :) but the idea was yours. And it is a great idea!  ;)

ditto. I saw that tutorial some time ago and I thought it was not a solution. Nice idea if you have a lamp but not usefull for doing several windows. When we made the first attempt it took 5 minute for a little window (obviously the night to dry too) but it would take not much more to create one hundred little windows. If you have the prepainted mesh and enough clear resin you can really produce tons of windows in a really short time. And that's the result :)

cheers

Nice job Jack. That is really cool. I think that would look fantastic on some of the lighted xmas village buildings we have.

the technique has been described before, now it's just the making of the diorama!
